No PC’s in the homestead here, just Macs...

Anyone run Quickload using Parallels on a Mac?
If so, does it run ok?

Would I be better off just buying some cheap barebones PC to run it?

Thanks.

Do you already do run parallels on your Mac? When I was getting my first degree (about 15 years ago) I used parallels to run windows programs on my Mac and although it worked, it drastically slowed down my computer, to the point it was very frustrating. When I went back to school again, I had to take several GIS courses and the software had to be on a windows OS. Rather than killing my laptop again I found it worth it just to spend a couple hundred bucks on a cheap windows laptop that would be dedicated to only GIS programs. I’ll admit that I am not familiar with the requirements to run QL but having experience with Parallels I found it much easier to just buy a dedicated laptop.

I have been running it for quite a while now, no issues. The host is a 2015 MacBook 8 GB of Ram, so not a monster, but kept updated to the latest releases, both of MacOS and Parallels. No other use for that VM so I believe the secret is not to mess up too much with Microsoft environment

Yeah I'm on the fence still, might just see about getting a crummy PC laptop to run it, but I'll be getting a new Mac soon so maybe I'll get Parallels too and just see how it goes...

I used Parallels for some audio programs about 10 years ago when I was touring and mixing bands for a living, worked great and went all over the world with it no problem, until one day Apple released some update to my Mac that properly fucked Parallels, and it never worked right after that... haven't really needed it since.

Thanks guys.
