I was kind of ina hurry so I just quick looked it. It had a McMillan stock and a long SS barrel, I am guessing 30 or 32 inches. It was bolt action that used a cutoff 308 case to hold the primer. It used smokeless powder(78 grains of something, 4831 maybe??) and a 275 grain polymer tipped bullet. The guy that built it is very reputable and he claimed it was very accurate out to 700 yards. BTW, it was 45 caliber. I seen he had his DOPE taped to the top of the scope and I believe it said 171 clicks up for 700 yards. Anyone had any experience with or seen one of these? I think the price tag was around $3000.

Re: Anyone seen the muszzleloader that has a 700 yard

Well I know the guy that built the gun and he is very reputable. I have not talked to him, but one guy was claiming he bought one and was shooting 1/2 MOA groups at 700 yards. That seemed a little far fetched, but I am not saying it aint true. I may have had the powder amount off too. After the 1/2 MOA claims, I kinda lost interest in what he said. I am sure the builder would have told the truth on how it shoots, but he was not there.

What?? Tom.

Re: Anyone seen the muszzleloader that has a 700 yard

140gr of IMR-4350?? That's nearly double the safe charge in any custom ML built on a Savage action. I'd be very sure of this before you post it for people to see, if you mean this please reference the company site as I'd like to see it.

I've gotten great accuracy from a factory T/C Omega with 325gr FTX and 135gr 777 out to 500 yards. Given what I have seen with that load at medium ranges, and having taken deer to 338 yds with lighter ML bullets, I would take a deer out to abour 450 yds with that heavy load.

I built a custom smokeless gun on a Savage action this past winter. I expect it will extend range about 100 additional yards, I get 2770 fps with a 200gr bullet. If I could find VV powders you can get 3000fps with similar pressures and duplex loads.

Re: Anyone seen the muszzleloader that has a 700 yard

that is the recomended load for the badbull muzzleloader

What load is used in the Bad Bull?

The Bad Bull Muzzleloader uses IMR 4350 smokeless powder. The minimum load is 100gr. DO NOT drop below 100gr, or DO NOT exceed 140gr of IMR 4350. We recommend a 45 Wonder Wad on top of the powder charge with our 275gr bullet seated on the wad. A Large Rifle Magnum primer is used to ignite the charge. We use a Federal 215M Primer. This is the only Primer that performs properly in the Bad Bull Muzzleloader.

Can I experiment and use other smokeless powder?

Definitely NOT! Use only the recommended charge of IMR 4350 Powder. The muzzleloaders have been pressure tested using the powder charge. If you experiment with other powders, you run the risk of damaging or destroying the muzzleloader, in addition to the risk of injury or death. Use only the powder and charge recommended by Bad Bull Muzzleloaders.

If you are tired then go to sleep. I did not question you. I merely stated WHAT?? I have not seen it before. But if I bore you then I am truly sorry. Tom.
