Not saying it's the solution, but it seems to me that less lethal would be better than nothing and something that may actually give them a chance? Something to use to defend themselves against these monsters besides their bodies? I think ballistic shields would be something worth looking into. Like I said it gives them something to at least protect themselves.

I can't stop thinking about one of these maniacs doing this in my own kids school. I think all the time that these schools are wide open for this. They have nothing but the doors on their rooms or maybe a desk or closet? In this country, there's no excuse that we haven't came up with something and implement it immediately, as fast as possible.

Just wanted to put that out there, anyone else have any thoughts on what we need to do, now. That between all parties find a common ground that can get funded and passed and get something for our schools? Something would be better than nothing.

Believe me if they would ever pass arming teachers I would donate the first gun today. But I doubt they'll let that happen without years of battling there's gotta be something we can do that gives them a chance, hell they are sitting ducks.

ooooor, you know.....since we are recognizing the need for Self defense in schools........how about we stop treating it like a fucking joke and actually give us the proper tools to stop these threats and protect ourselves.

stop making a mockery of our safety and actually allow us to have the most efficient tool to defend ourselfs we can have.

guns are good enough to protect our banks and our politicians.......but teachers have to protect themselves with rocks?

we do not have a "samurai" class in the united states......ALL men are allowed to carry weapons.

Until "we" are ready to have a serious discussion about protecting our children from homicidal maniacs this is all academic.

Lets analyze the truths:
Q - When bad guy shows up and kills with a gun what is the response?
A - We/they call the cops and send a trained good guy with a gun.
Q - Wouldn't teachers/administration with training also be considered a good guy with a gun?
A - Yes if logic was applied to this question.
Q - Can cops be in all places at once?
A - This one is self evident.

I think they've (NRA) been too subtle with their response of teacher ccw. I'd like to see Lapierre get some real balls and just flat out suggest that the teacher pack a fuckin Noveske SBR with a can (as to not damage the hearing of the children). Shit if he won't say it, uncle Ted will do it. Fire with fire is what I'm saying

I'm with ya, but even if it passed could you get all the teachers to actually use it? My youngest go to a K-8 school in rural WV. A small school that I attended myself I'm now 35. Out of every teacher/staff there I bet there may be two of them who have ever even fired a gun in their life. Not to mention the ones who wouldn't dare to touch one if they were hanging from a cliff and they had to grab a gun hung over the cliff to reach them these idiots would fall first. How we rely on them to defend our kids even if ccw was allowed for school staff?

I bet the local State Police have ballistic shields sitting gathering dust that rarely get used they could donate. As many ballistic vests that are out there, it would make sense for the teachers that would be doing the defending to have one.

Is there any support at all for teachers to carry? I'm researching it now trying to find out if there are any groups pushing for it. As a parent with kids in school today I feel obligated to try and do something no matter how long it takes. The sooner we parents start fighting for these things the sooner it's bound to happen.

No I don't think it was ever anyone's intention to require teachers to pack. I could see a logistical nightmare with that as a mandate. The goal is to give them the freedom to do so. This is something that could happen virtually overnight with little to no expenditure in some places

Arming teachers would just give a extra level of defense against the degenerate fucktards in this world. I’m all for it don’t get me wrong, but the real problem is degenerate fucktards!

What if I said I was a violent little shit growing up, had access to firearms, and still didn’t shoot anything up. It’s not because I never thought of it, after all I was raised on 1st generation violent video games and Chuck Norris movies, even listened to rap music for a spell.

I didn’t do shit because I’m a pussy compared to my old man, and he’d beat my ass just to prove it. He was a hard ass because his dad was, they fought wars, divorced wives, maybe even ducked the cop’rs a time or 3.

Beating the fuck outa kids wasn’t shit to them dudes. We never called it less than lethal, to be honest wasn’t quite sure it would be. They say you can’t beat a dog to respect you, but kids are different .. makes me feel old that I remember when teachers used less than lethal, it was called a fucking paddle.

I was the last kid to get paddled at my elementary school, my dad was always proud of that, lol. There's a major lack in parenting in my generation. My generation is lacking in many ways. Your right that we all have crazy thoughts. Like you my dad didn't mess around. He told you once, you did it again and he hit you like a man. I thank him all the time because he cared enough to kick my ass when needed.

I'm not necessarily advocating less lethal. It's just an idea, like these idiots make use of the term, "assault rifle" and it puts an idea into people's heads. Less lethal is the same thing to me. If it's an idea the decision makers can push through, then why not try? It could be the gateway we need to get ccw on school property. It would certainly be better to have something than everyone running for their lives getting the hell shot out of them. If someone could hit these bastards with a couple rounds of rubber buckshot, or even one round. It would give everyone a better chance to get away from it.

Of course the best possibility is ccw for staff on school grounds. I would back it in any way I possibly could. I'm just trying to think of every possible way to help the situation and hopefully get others to start thinking of ways to help protect the schools. I'm working on it here locally and I hope to inspire other parents to start working towards getting something accomplished. I'm tired of hearing the idiots talk about taking our guns and not trying to come up with anything other than: take everyone's guns. It's a stupid waste of time I would rather see a realistic solution being discussed instead of all this gun ban shit.
