Anyone use a kelbly atlas tactical action?

Yes, I have a custom build 260 with a Kelby Atlas action. Love it. The mechanical ejector is fantastic, leaves all your brass in a neat little pile next to the gun. Very smooth and fast action. I would happily build on another one.

I have zero experience with them and curious what are your thoughts?

Masterpiece Arms uses them in the high precision builds they offer. They guarantee 3/8" groups at 100 yds. http://masterpiecearms.com/shop/mpa-6-5ba-creedmoor-bolt-action-rifle/

I shoot with a guy who bought a rifle from them and it has the Kelby action and the MPA manufactured barrel (6.5CM) mounted.
It shoots bugholes at 100 yds, 3/4" at 200 yards and 2" at 500 yards if the wind is calm.
They look good and shoot good.
BTW, I have one of MPA's BA chassis systems, it's strong and mounts up with a Rem 700 action perfectly.

I am looking at a couple actions, kelbly tactical as it's on sale and caught my attention, pierce and bighorn tl3 as iits new to Canada. Problem is actions up here are crazy crazy expensive! Pierce being the cheapest, followed by the kelbly as it's on sale, then the bighorn

Matt, where do you see info about the Kelbly's being on sale?

Haha I didn't mention I live in Canada. And found them on sale in Canada. The reason for this post is due to the cost of a custom action now. They sky rocketed in Canada over the past 2 years and my only custom is on a stiller, and I've handled/shot with defiance, surgeon, bat. But none of the ones that I'm looking at due to price or new;

-stiller tac 30 (already own and happy with)
-kelbly atlas tactical
-bighorn tl3
-pierce engenering

problem is the bighorn is extremely expensive compared to the others. With the kelbly on sale, it goes in order of price pierce, kelbly, stiller then bighorn by a lot

I have built off Kelblys actions for many years and they are some of the best out their. They build in house and have been making custom actions longer than anyone in the business. They are some of the best people I have ever dealt with period. The Atlas Tactical is in my opinion with all its options the best value you will find anywhere. They run slick as butter.

I'm glad to hear!! I was strongly debating between that and the pierce, and the bighorn. I really don't want to fork out the money for the bighorn right now but I was afraid a pierce or a kelbly wasn't any good

I'm waiting on a Masterpiece Arms... I ordered it after I found out they use Kelbly's. I have no hands on yet, but two calls to Ian Kelbly made it an easy choice. I'm of the impression that they make an excellent action. This will be my first bolt rifle, and I'm as excited as I was getting my first tax stamp from the ATF. Hopefully 30 more days and I'll have it. MPA looks like another top quality manufacturer as well. I'm sure you would be happy with any of the names you mentioned.

I have a stiller, pierce and just added a defiance. One thing that the pierce has over them all is the smoothness. When you lift the bolt handle and feel the cam over, thats where the pierce is different than most you just dont feel that. its a very easy lift and close.

For what its worth, Kelbly's came up years ago as the standard for many in the benchrest community. They have been building rifles long before they got into the tactical rifle market a few years back. They know what it takes to make a shooter and how to take care of shooters.

They are HUGE supporters of tactical long range shooting and you will find Ian and Ryan at many matches. They are great guys and stand 100% behind what they make.

Extremely happy with my MPA BA using the Atlas action. The faster you run the bolt the smoother it is!

I have a short action left hand version. Love it, super smooth, smoothest action I've had the pleasure of playing around with, and that includes Barnard, Tikka, Defiance and Stiller. It takes AW mags too. I think for the money it's a bargain.

I love my Kelbly long action. I bought it along with a Bighorn TL3 at the same time. Both are super smooth but there's something about the way the Kelbly locks up. It's my favorite of the bunch that includes Pierce and Defiance as well.
