Just wondering if anyone has ever used a Sheppard scope and what they thought of it. I have a Remington 700 sps Varmint in 308 and am looking for a scope. From what i've read its been a love or hate relationship any input would be very helpful.

Thanks

Re: Anyone use a Sheppard scope?

I had one several years ago. While it worked fine it was not overly impressive. To me the optics were OK, not great, and it wasn't overly bright.

The reticle worked fine.

They claim one shot zero, but realistically I think you should fire at least a three round group (if not five)to get a better impression of true POA/POI which means the dual reticle is not faster but slower as you have to adjust both.

The FFP ranging reticle I think was ahead of its time but I feel a FFP Mil-dot or other is more accurate.

The holdovers work like any other BDC type reticle. Dialing elevation and windage is again going to be more accurate.

Long story short, I bought it before I knew better. I sold it and wouldn't buy another. I think there are better options for the money. That said, I am by far an expert in optics and I am sure someone here MUCH more experienced than me will come along and give you a more useful opinion.
