anyone use RE15 and 155scenars?

Re: anyone use RE15 and 155scenars?

Anyone know what the velocity would be in winter temps? If ideal velcity is 2930fps at about 80 degrees then what about at 30?

Re: anyone use RE15 and 155scenars?

46.9 RL15 and CCI BR2 primers, best load I have tried out of my Rem700 5R. there is also another accuracy node at 46.2gr RL15 at 2.855" COAL. Depends on what kind of speed you are after.

In a RL 15 46.1 OCW .308 Palma 95 chamber, tight, mag. lenght jump .10 to lands 25 inch Schneider 5P barrel, Lapua brass, Russian primer 2940 fps at 75F

Unsichtbar....what is your actual OAL if you dont mind....I guess I am trying to figure out if the 155s scenars like being loaded in short or longer....and in relation to muzzle velocity since the deeper you set em the more compressed the load

In this rifle the round is 2.8" with .010 to the lands, in my opinion 155 Lapua bullets seem to like some jump. I develop my loads with OCW method link a above. Once the OCW has been found and verified at 300 yds. Then the seating depth is tuned, you have to find the best seating depth for your rifle, decide if you want to load from a magazine or load one at a time. Pressure is a curve looks like a bowl seat in from standard mag. lenght goes up start moving out pressure drops for a while then goes up till you start seating into the lands which really sends in up. Adopt a method like OCW run it like it is written.

Re: anyone use RE15 and 155scenars?

well..i finally went out and did some loads today...47.4 grs. of RE15 in win brass...and 47grs...

Temp is 50degrees...No way these are going to work...the 47.4gr. were runing at 3033fps and the 47 were at 2990fps...too fast for my tastes however no pressure signs... Groups were 1\2 to 3/4...not that good.
SD was too high as well

Since the target node is 2940fps at 80 degrees...I am aiming at about 2889fps at 45-50 degrees..Hopefully I will find something tomorrow

Re: anyone use RE15 and 155scenars?

You did not shoot and OCW test, did you read how it is done? I did not say any thing about 47 gr. that might be the load in some rifles, people work up to and found it was right for there rifle. Either do the work to develope a load or continue to just just bang around you choice.

I an OCW test your looking for a common POI first, then tune it. Start you OCW test at mag. length 45.7, 46, 46.3 46.6, and 46.9 your not shooting for a specific velocity but a commom POI in a velocity range, then tune the seating depth.

Why would you go that high on the charge weight? take it slow hombre! drop it down to 46.2gr at 2.800" OAL and see how it does.
