I am ordering a Nightforce 2.5-10x32 for my Recce AR. I also want to use it on a second Bolt gun. Is the Larue SPR mount the way to go or Night Force Ultra light rings.

I have the NF UL rings on my .308 as they came with the F1 I bought, they appear to be robust.

Is anyone doing this, switching scopes between rifles?

Re: Antone using Larue?

I love Larue products and the SPR mount is great. The biggest thing I ran into was the height of the rings required on the AR. I took a scope off a bolt rifle and went to mount it only to find that the rings were too short for the application. Also, the SPR-E is well suited for AR work when attempting to get the appropriate eye relief. I am by NO MEANS saying you cannot get a scope mounted properly with rings, the Larue just makes it easier. My $.02, YMMV.

Re: Antone using Larue?

Do this

Get the Badger 22MOA base for the Ar family rifles.

Then mount the optic with low rings.

You can then move the optic from bolt gun, to Ar with no issues.

also most bolt guns have a 20 MOA base right?

So now your POA will not be so off in bore sighting.

TRUST ME!!!

this works.

Re: Antone using Larue?

I suggest that you look into what JB suggested.

The LaRue really shines as a mount for optics that you are going to be using standing on your feet, heads up, kicking doors in style. The 1.5" above rail centerline is too tall in my experience for getting down behind the rifle.

I think its a great product and if LaRue would make a mount .2-.3" lower they'd have the perfect QD AR mount in my opinion.

Re: Antone using Larue?

JB is got the right idea for what you are wanting to do. I just mounted my 2.5-10x24 NF on my savage. I had to buy extra low rings to make it work out right with my 40moa base. No way it would work on AR without some type of riser. I have the Larue SPR 1.5 mounting my NF1-4 and it repeats well and is the perfect height on my AR, but would be too high for a bolt gun.
