I'm about 5'10", 260lbs, 40" waist. Not a huge gut, I can still see my toes, and can actually still see my dick if he cooperates.

I'm interested in an appendix holster for a Commander length 1911 that will work with for a bigger guy. I know I can watch youboob videos all day long, but I have a hard time trusting them when most of them are probably paid shills.

What I'm asking for is real experience and advice from those that use this style of holster, and are built similar to me.

I am planning on getting into better shape and losing some weight over the winter, but nothing is guaranteed.

What says the collective?

Thanks in advance.

I’ve been real happy with the Stealth Gear holsters - those with a “sidecar” mag holder . If I’m wearing the gun I’ve got at least 1 spare.
The real draw is the backing on the holster a very fine soft mesh - don’t slip don’t grab pubes don’t sweat don’t stink holds up long term

I'm 5'9 and 170. I have almost exclusively gone to tenicor. Run a velo4 for years now but have also accumulated a malus sol, certum, and a couple others. They make the only aiwb I'll wear and I run their zero belts.

Coming from handmade leather belts with a layer of kydex between two layers of heavy leather, it took time to get used to a softer belt but damn if it don't work. I used to carry owb or 3oclock iwb and tended to.have other stuff on the belt so the heavy duty leather was the jam. Switching to just a gun and maybe a spare mag, the zero belt is plenty, doesn't make me look like I have a GUNT, and the buckle is nonferrous so I walk right through metal detection if I have to go somewhere that I can't pack a gun.

I’m 5’8” 215 so I’ve got a bit of a gut 🤷. I use holsters by Tactical Justice and carry more in the 1:30-2:00 position. With the plethora of Kydex holster makers just find one that looks good to you. My daily carry is a G48 in the TJ holster.

I’m almost at the point that I won’t buy a pistol if tenicor doesn’t make holsters for it. And I’ve tried damn near everything.

*edit* not the same body comp. But I would wager it still holds true, and that the belt, wedge/pillow, clips and proper setup matter most.

I also really like the hunter Constantine carry belt, and it even allows you to use the same holster and mag pouches in workout shorts or whatever you want in the summer

I appreciate the advice. I should add that I use a Kore Essentials belt and OWB carry a full size 1911 with spare mag on the off side.

So I have a good belt, already.

Are you saying a less stiff belt is better for appendix carry?

If you’re referring to my recommendation. Then I would say yes to a point. The rigidity up front is still helpful and necessary to keep things in the right place and from rotating /flopping around. The elastic back allows enough flex however that everything can kind of move with you a bit, so going from sitting to standing and actually moving around is way more comfortable and doesn’t require constant belt adjustment.

It’s also nice that the front is slick and the belt clips in on the side, so it doesn’t add an extra layer to print

I'm too skinny/bony to use the Kore Essentials belt for anything but use in a match where I run appendix carry. It's way too rigid for me to wear comfortably all day. Beats up my hip bones.

My two favorite belts are the Constantine you mention, and one from Mastermind Tactics. They both have more flexibility where it matters. The belt only needs to be firm/rigid wherever you carry the holster and mag pouch, it doesn't need to be like the Kore Essentials.

Been using my UM Tactical, side car model, reselling liking it. Also, Pistol Wear because it is comfy and easy to flip around as a back brace.

260 40" waist and not a big gut‽ let's see a picture? Ha ha just playing
