Anyone got any advice for a armalite ar-10 t carbine with a 16 " match barrel reguarding ammo. Quite naturally match grade ammo is going to be my choice, but there are so many manufacturers of "good stuff" it is hard, not to mention expensive finding that perferct factory load. I would rather hand load but don't want to take the chance of messing up my gun. I know that i'm losing velocity with the shorter barrel, hence the bullet is falling faster. So anyone got any pointers?

Why would you mess your gun up by handloading? I have the same rifle you are talking about it eats my handloads like a fat kid on cake! It really likes 155gr Lapua Scenars over 43 grains of RL15 with a COAL of 2.745. That being said, it also likes Black Hills 168gr Match too!

Re: ar-10 t carbine ammo

Well, i guess i would just rather shoot manufactured match ammo because well.... it's easy. a box of Remington Sierra Match Kings 168 grain bthp costs 28 dollars. With my carbine I can literally shoot 5 times and have 2 or 3 holes at 100 yds. I have tried fed, black hills, lapua, norma, and in my case i got lucky becuase the remingtons are the cheapest. As far as reloading goes, I just feel more comfortable loading for my bolt guns. Got any suggestions for a Rem. 700 spst 308? I haven't had it long, maybe fired 20 or 30 rounds out of it... just enough to get it broken in some. But it is shooting the Hornady 150 gr SST's pretty damn good. Not match accurate, but good enough for 200 to 300 yard shots. thanks todd
