Hi so I just finished putting together my first 308 gas gun and I shot it for the first time today. While shooting I started to notice signs of overpressure and this is what led me here.
The barrel and bcg are both faxon and supposed to have had headspace checked at the factory. Barrel is 16" mid length. Also using a silencerco omega during shooting. I have an adjustable gas block on the rifle adjusted to lowest amount of gas that will lock back bolt with can on.
I noticed overpressure from the start with Handloads I was trying. I started with 42 gn varget with 168 ballistic tip in federal brass. Primers were cratered but entirely flattened. After this I had a primer blow out and I stopped with the handloads altogeher and tried 3 different factory loads I had brought with me. All 3 factory loads showed overpressure signs as well with hornady amax being the worst. The only Ammo that did not show any overpressure signs were hornady 150 fmjs I loaded with 36 grains of varget just to test the gun and adjust gas block initially.
From what I gathered today on the internet gas guns will always run with more pressure all the things being he same then gas guns. This seems extreme to me though to have these kinds of overpressure signs with multiple factory loads.
