AR Ban Implications on existing owners and Boulder Tragedy

I blame the warning labels.
Years ago, idiots would have weeded themselves out through natural selection.
But someone decided we needed to keep people who had to be told not to lean an aluminum ladder against high voltage lines.

Truer words have never been sent out in to cyberspace.

If only everyone put as much energy into helping good candidates win, good legislation get passed, and other useful things, as they do into arguing with a sock puppet account.

That's a good point. I was involved in politics at one time. I was also lied to, right to my face, by a lot of the same politicians that I helped to put in office. There were times at committee meetings when I was wondering if I was in an organized crime meeting.

After dealing with those human scum, I felt like pursuing a career as a male prostitute and act in gay porn movies to get my self-respect back.

My point is that the same politicians that you would help get elected will turn out to be back-stabbers later. They will have one hand out receiving contributions then have the other hand picking your pocket all the while lying to you.

I don't say this to discourage anyone from getting involved like you suggest. However, be warned, that you will find that gang members in MS-13 more honorable than some of the very politicians you would support. If it is one thing that they are good at; it is pretending to be someone that they are not.

Be prepared to enter a world devoid of truth, facts or reality. It can be an evil twilight zone. Go into it with that realization and a thick skin. Most importantly, be prepared for disappointment.

After you have been involved in the dirty business of politics for a while then you will realize very quickly why organizations like the Sons of Liberty were formed.

If you are going to contribute to a politician's campaign fund, don't forget to set some aside to buy more ammo.

There's a long list of people that promised the right thing before being elected.

It's the typical I support the 2nd amendment, but... I really don't.

If I wanna mount a Mini gun to the side of my Jeep I have every right to do so if we had rights that were still protected under the bill of rights however the sentiment of "I support this amendment but..." has aided in totally eviscerating the bill of rights.

The government isn't going to save you when antifa and BLM and all of those types take to the streets again and decide they're going to start pulling people they seem nazis out of their house and beating them to death. Then you're gonna wish you have that 10.5 inch barrel while you wait for the state to save you.

In my life I have sworn to oaths to this country the 1st was in the boy scouts the 2nd was as a reserve sheriff's deputy. There is no I support your rights but in my vocabulary.

We can talk all day with the intentions of trying to persuade the other side till we are blue in the face.

Problem is, the other side isnt willing to hold a fact/truthful conversation on any level.

They spew garbage all day, everyday. If they actually came to the table to have an adult conversation their side would be destroyed by facts and numbers.

There is a plethora of things out there more dangerous things than guns that kill people everyday, as they have already been listed.

AR type rifles of all things are probably the lowest, even behind fists or hammers. Pistols will be soon next once all rifles are all banned.

Rifles are an equalizer as we have seen in iraq and Afghanistan.

The 2nd amendment was to protect against tyranny not hunting. We do not have automatic weapons, manpads, or tanks to fight the mil, if it came down to it, however we all have seen what HME can do to tanks and other armored vehicles.

We have never truly "compromised" on gun control. We have only given.

There is no bargaining with the other side. It's either we draw our line in the sand or just hand our guns in

"You - I would like to face you in the boxing ring without your gun to protect you."

Ever notice you never hear/see actual badass people say/post shit like this?

Everyone who shoots a savage axis is a sniper too.

Calm your tits we get it, you're Rocky Balboa. How do you read punches when you can't even read a room?

Is that at the proctologist's office?
Actually had a similar warning slapped on the side of the caustic soda parts washer at work. Courtesy of me and a cohort in crime. Ours had a picture of a dick getting chopped between to gears. KPA inspector guy didn’t find it as funny as we did.

The King Soopers tragedy hit close to home as it is 1 mile from my son's college apartment and he usually shops there on Monday's - fortunately he was with me that night - It got me thinking about my position on an A/R ban - I have several in addition to my bolt guns. I wonder what would happen to existing legal owners - I have heard the government would pay for the weapons if they ever took them away. It would be interesting if I they would pay what we all paid - which could be quite pricey, especially when you include the scope.

It also got me thinking about a solution to the problem - I have always argued that picking on AR's is stupid, as a common hand gun has about the same capacity, rate of fire and can fit in your pocket and is far more dangerous in most circumstances (except things like the Las Vegas Shooting) - meaning a crazy can not typically walk in a movie theater toting his 308 AR.

I think if I were going to address this problem I would limit sales of high mag anything to people that had any sort of violence convictions for a long time and maybe some day let them buy a deer rifle to hunt, lengthen the waiting period and increase the scrutiny on background checks. Also I have always been surprised that short barrel AR Pistols are legal - the Velcro thing on the butt stock is a joke and they are no different from a normal AR.

Again I love my shooting and hunting hobby, but the only use I can think of for a 10 in barrel 556 or 308 BO is urban warfare. (Maybe for hogs??)

I would think they are terrible home defense weapons as you will shoot through your walls and into your neighbors house -

Perhaps if you lived in Mogadishu or Darfur they would be handy to protect the family from roaming terrorists and genocidal maniacs but not here.
You give em a inch....

"And other useful things" covers the crooks.

So here in Alabama it's illegal to carry/transport a loaded rifle in a vehicle. It is legal for me to carry a concealed pistol (with my permit) so I almost always have my .357mag American Derringer in my pocket, but now I can carry my Shockwave, Draco, or Charger all have folding "braces".
Uncle Ted says the best rampage weapon is a turkey gun anyway...

Hi,

BAN FAT FOODS;....they are more burdensome to the American Gov and American People than any firearm will ever be.

Sincerely,

For anybody buying into the media’s BS these two pictures dispel their lies. We need to cut off the hands of violent felons obviously, fists, blunt objects’ and knives need to be banned first. Also Theis is right, that box of donuts does more harm to the avg American.

It astonishes me that people do not understand the nature of rights.

Your rights don't come from a piece of vellum parchment that has iron gall ink scribblings on it... Your rights are natural... inherent... you have them simply by being human.

If I swing my fist at your nose, your immediate instinct is to move, duck, or back away. Perhaps even retaliate. That is what the 2A is... It recognizes our natural instincts to preserve our lives and well-being.

And throughout history there has never been a greater threat to life, liberty, and property than a government. The 20th century body counts bear that out.

Don't rely on a 200+ year old piece of paper or the whims and opinions of 9 robed lawyers. Whether you have to defend your life from wild beasts, burglars at night, the insane, or an authoritarian regime... Only you are capable of deciding the most appropriate tools needed.

Anyone else who says otherwise can go fuck themselves in hell.

Mike

Yes sir. Everyone here gets that, well most of us. It’s the masses that have become ignorant sheep.

Chances of you being killed by someone with a gun 1 in 30,000. Chances of you being killed by someone texting or drinking and driving (both of which are illegal) approximately 1 in 15000. Twice that of a gun. Chances of you being killed by an AR 15 as the above chart illustrates, nearly zero. Again it is a non issue that the media and liberal politicians have chosen to sensationalize for their own personal gains and in order to placate to the fears of the uninformed, the 60 percent of Americans that don’t own them. By the way your chances of being killed in a car accident 1 in a 105 and we are not trying to ban cars (well at least not because of auto accidents).

You will not change the liberal left’s mind set so stop talking to them. The best thing we can do is inform the uninformed with the truth and introduce them to the second amendment. So call one of your non gun owning friends and invite them to the range. I have never taken anyone to the range that did not enjoy it and once you introduce many to the competitive side of gun ownership many become addicted. There are a lot of lost causes out there and you cannot argue or reason with them but, those we can we should and it begins with a respectful conversation with them, not arguing with the fools.

There are three types of murderers.

One is your basic criminal. He does not care, or worse he enjoys seeing someone die. Gun control of any kind is not going to stop him, even in a gun free society, he would find a way to kill.

Two is you totally out of control anger/passion murder. These are the unfortunate. I can’t, you can’t, no one can stop these murders. I would bet good cash money that more of these murders are done with tools other than firearms. The only real hope is an outside intervention by family/mental health pros, etc.

Three is your basically mentally ill individual. He is the one who gets the most attention because when he kills he normally kills a bunch at one time. Gets lots of attention from democrats who want to take away all firearms in hopes that the mentally ill won’t find another way to kill large numbers of people at one time.

Now we all know that rifles are used in violent crimes at a far lessor rate than handguns, knives, fists, and blunt objects. But they look mean and sensation seeking politicians love mean looking.

Point, counseling for people with issues within their families/friends and GOOD, SOLID INHOSPITAL MENTAL HEALTH CARE, would go a long way to solve most of these issues in points two and three. Now what is most interesting is that most of the state funded mental health hospitals have been ended by state and federal fund cuts. This leaves private hospitals that receive their funds from private insurance which is time limited,. It usually providing services for two weeks. When the funds run out, the hospital services ends and the mentally ill person is put out on the street with a bottle of pills which have some very, very unpleasant side effects.

So, My solution. Ban all private motor vehicle ownership because some people get drunk and kill others (as well as their own selves).

Joking aside, we really need to spend a lot more money on mental health services. (And a strong police presence in high crime areas wouldn’t be a bad idea either).
