Gunsmithing AR bolt and carrier swap?

Can anyone tell me if you can simply swap out a bolt and carrier without having to check headspace?

a. from one gun to another?

b. buy a new bolt and carrier?

you CAN do it, is it reccomended, not really, but it is possible to just swap em over and not worry about it ...

You can buy gages to check proper headspace.

I have checked quite a few and have never had one be out.

Maybe I've just been lucky.

Would swapin just the bolt typically have an effect of headspace?
