Heated up flash hider to break the loctite, and removed flash hider. Threads look bad like they are stripped some. My plan is to clean them up and run dies over threads. If that doesn't work I guess I will have to get the threads re-cutt. Any ideas or suggestions?

Pic? Generally loctite doesn't bugger threads. So like was suggested above, I'd suspect a pinned FH or maybe silver solder.

If its really messed up send it to us and we'll rethread it, you just pay the bus fare.

Re: AR flash hider removal

I've seen where the threads looked like they had hash marks running through them. Initial inspection looked like they were boogered up. If it were mine, I'd chase the threads if that didn't work, recut.

At worst case, cut off and start over.

Depends on what you want to do with it.

If you are just going to stick another brake or FH on there, then run a die over it and see if they clean up.

If you ever plan on putting a suppressor on it, then take it to a smith who can re-cut the threads concentric to the bore on a lathe.

Re: AR flash hider removal

Threads are totally fornicated. Rifle is heading out to mile high to get redone. I need the threads concentric anyhow for silencer. I think its amazing that the threads just came off like that. Oh well. Thanks for the ideas.
