ar front sight adjustment problem

Hey guys. I recently picked up a used samson flip up front sight. I was just trying to adjust the elevation down and it looks like I ran out of travel before I got it where I need it. I removed it and cleaned the threads. I put it back in and still bottoms out. Any ideas?

How much further do you need to go? As a last resort you could file down the front sight.

Thats what Im thinking. Its atleast 1/8th of an inch

Are you sure it's not gas block-height?

I bought it from a guy, he had the gas block height and rail height. I requested the rail height. Im just going to take it to my cnc class tonite and put it in a mill and take about .250 off it.
