Im fairly new to AR's. Bought a 223 a year ago and now a LR308. There are lots of initials out there for types of guns....but what specifies that? I see people saying I want to build an SASS or RePR, which more than one company make...But couldn't any semi-auto be called this? To my limited knowledge, doesn't RePR mean Rapid Engagement Precision Rifle? and SASS is Semi Auto Sniper System? So technically, any longer barrel, of any type, could be either? What am I missing here?

Heres what Im getting at...my LR308 has a 24" stainless barrel, free float, rifle but stock, blah blah....so couldn't that be called an SASS?
But at the same time, Couldn't REPR be used as well? a semi auto precision rifle?

See what I mean?

You can certainly call it whatever you like, it is after all your rifle (mine is called 'Lizabeth). The SASS and REPR (lots of people don't even know the 'ol Black Cat makes a REPR) are just model names for a specific package from DPMS. It is not (in this instance) a "classification" of rifle. Just a model name.

That's pretty much was I was asking. DPMS and LWRC both make a REPR and it seems to me like it stands for a very general term. Thanks.
