AR10 charging handle releasing

I have an Armalite AR10 and when shooting suppressed, the charging handle releases during firing about 30% of the time.Doesn't do it with the suppressor removed.
I was single loading and the bolt hold open was working fine.

Could it be getting to much gas with the suppressor installed? I just don't see how the extra gas could release the charging handle.

Any ideas?

TIA,

Re: AR10 charging handle releasing

It is common (and more or less expected) that you will get a TON of blowback into the rifle, including back/through the CH when shooting any AR-type rifle suppressed, especially any AR-10 or variant. Depending on the ammo used, it can be better or worse, but getting rid of it 100% with a DI gun is impossible.

I have seen blowback be enough to pop the CH latch, but not often. Is it possible gas blowbackthat you just have a worn/damaged latch?

If there is nothing wrong with your latch (or the indent that the latch locks onto), then the simple fix is to buy a GasBuster CH and be done with it. If you want to go the cheap route, you can use RTV to "seal up" the CH. I have done this before and it works "okay" but isn't, in my opinion, as effective as the GB CH.

Ord/lonewolfusmc,
I installed a GB and slash XH buffer in the rifle. Ran 30 rounds thru it and all is well.

Thanks for the help.
