AR15 & M4 Buffer Spring Specs

hi all!, big time lurker here for sure!

I have been reading some threads on the AR15 platform buffer, springs, operation etc etc...

I have a question.
While the M16 and M4 buffer springs (why don't we call them operating springs)are not of the same length what happens with the hardness of them? (I am referring to the K spring rating).

in other words did the moving of the gas port in the M4 and the increased bolt carrier moving pressure dicated a harder spring?

I thought it was more about buffer weight than spring hardness.
