Picked up a NIB ARC magazine to play with. When loading the magazine in my current rifle, it is very difficult to seat the magazine properly (several good smacks on the bottom of the mag). It is also difficult to release the mag catch then. I thought it might have been a contact issue somewhere internally or perhaps bad tolerances in my bottom metal.
Yesterday, a new DBM showed up for a new build. Thought I would try the ARC mag on it, and same thing...very difficult to seat. Thoughts? Has anyone else had this issue?
Pmags, AICS, and Accurate Mags all run smoothly in both DBMs.
My initial thought is to shave ~ 0.050" off the mag catch lip

If you modify the mag catch to solve one problem you may create a different problem if you plan on using a different mag. Seems like a mag problem not a DBM problem.
Sorry, maybe I didn't explain it well. I was thinking on trimming the magazine. Specifically the lip that catches on the mag catch.

I think that is the right approach if your DBM is functioning properly with other magazines. Just take a little off at a time and keep checking it until it fits and functions.

AICS and ARC have very different mag catch profiles. Most DBM's are made to accommodate the AICS so the mags don't seat too deep and bind on the bolt. Trimming the top of the ARC mag catch lip should solve your issue.
