I purchases a ard honey comb for my scope I already run a 4 inch sunshade this rifle is my duty rifle I am on a srt team and the designated marksman. My question is I noticed it seems to dull the clarity a little am I over doing it with both? I know it does the same thing a 9 inch sunshade would do just not wanting any reflectivity and don't want to run without my sunshade should I just ditch the ard or would this actually keep the scope reflection off or is the sunshade doing the same thing? btw this is a bushnell elite ers 3.5-21x50 so its a good piece of glass.

The ARD alone with prevent detection of your optic and act as a 4-5" sunshade. It's a tool for a paticular job. If your getting called out you may want to have both in your bag since you could be there a while and conditions may change.

I would just run the sun shade as needed and not worry about the ARD. How often in the history of your SRT has there been a need for a ARD to keep the marksman from being engaged by a suspect/target. More likely the individual will see you and not just a reflection from distance. I guess you could keep it in the bag as a "just in case" item but the brightness you give up does not justify using it JMHO.
