Rifle Scopes ???ARD Hurt the light gathering of a scope???

Re: ???ARD Hurt the light gathering of a scope???

Roger that. Especially noticeable in low-light situations. Depends on the ARD too, though. Larger honeycombs (which are usually longer) have lower blockage than the short, fine honeycomb ones.

ARDs are good at cutting the "glare" that comes back off of your scope. They most definitely diminish light gathering capability and image quality.

If on a 2 way range then its a necessary evil, but for range work and practical shooting, just grab a sun shade

Test it yourself. At sunset focus on a small black fleck some 100 yards away. Then, switch back and forth and see which setup causes the image to go away, and note when and how long the other one is still good. Then you will KNOW.
