Are primers coming back around?

I got serious about reloading this last year. I am really enjoying it. If it wasn't for issued ammo, I would have done it allot earlier. Sucks to get into a hobby and you can't buy any stuff for it. Needless to say, I got caught with my pants down and I am low on all supplies. I loaded up on powder early on, but could not find many bullets or primers. I hit the local Sportmans Warehouse today and scored big. 1000 of each Fed large rifle-large pistol-large mag rifle and rem small bench rest rifle. That's the only brands they had and only one each per customer. Only thing I could not get, that I wanted was small pistol. I really need some .224 Hornady 75 BTHP.

So is anyone else seeing supplies come back?

Been a good week. I also got a new Glock 21 with 3 mags, some .22 shells, and some Ruger BX-25's. Will be great week if my marriage survives all the purchases...

I see part of the problem. You did not take your wife so that she could buy her 1000 of each type primer. You must not slip up like this again.

Honestly I mail order everything so I can't say if it is coming back or not. I hope so!

I could not get over the hazard shipping charge. So I kept checking local.

Yes they are coming back around. When my brass and bullets came in this week, I had to move things around in closet. The primers are more towards the front for when i set the Dillon this weekend.

There is just so much people can hoard. People aren't shooting more, they are just hoarding. AR's have came way down, reloading components are getting more accessible. And there is some dumbasses who have a LOT of high dollar shit hoarded that will be worth 1/2 of their investment in 6 more months. When components get available again, buy powder in 8lb jugs and primers in 5000 denominations and bullets by the thousand and you won't be caught short again.

I could not get over the hazard shipping charge. So I kept checking local. </div></div>

I have a few friends that reload. We will place an order together and split the cost of shipping and hazmat fees.

Also midsouth will waive the hazmat fee once or twice a year when you have an order over $300.00-400.00. Easy to do with 2-3 people.

Work for a mid size shooting sports wholesaler. We've had 3 shipments of powder so far this year. Not real big shipments and of course they lasted a day or so before they blew out the door. We haven't received primers yet this year.

When ammo gets in big demand the primers are the first component to disappear and are usually the last to become available. Of course brass was in short supply all last year.

I laugh at all the belly aching. I love my home state but it would be easier to get fuckin pickled snow leopard bladders than powder and primers sometimes. No one wants to ship air and we have no ground service since Canada is in the damn way. I wish I could just go to midway or midsouth and order either powder or primers. I don't hoard powder or primers, but I buy it when I can find it--my wife says its a problem, but the stuff stores well and isn't getting any cheaper. Accordingly, I keep 8-12K or so primers in each size I use regularly.

When available, I replace as I burn through them. Older stock to the front, new to the back. I know they have wonderful shelf life, but not an issue right now as I shoot enough that nothing gets old.

Got plenty of my favorite powder and primers--hard part has been keeping up with the boolits.
