@NorthWesterner said, "Get the Hellfire!!!"

He is right, this brake is amazing!!! The rifle barely moves with a 6.5 CM.

Nice looking rig, were you running a different brake before or no brake?
Thanks, this one is a new rifle(18.8lbs) but I was shooting a Bergara 6.5CM HMR(21 lbs) with a Surfire Supressor. No comparison for sure even with the Supressor off and using the Surfire Brake.

It is a great brake. As wade says above, they are something when you're just a few inches from them. I was at a local range recently doing some load development, I guess the RO thought it would be a joke to put a guy right next to me (about 18 inches away). There were several spots, but he seats him almost touching me. The first few range hots, I didn't shoot as he had a magnetospeed and was doing the same thing. He asked why I wasn't shooting, I told him because my brake will jar him a bit. He blew it off and said no problem go ahead. Next session, I fired a 5 shot, blew over his LCD for his chrono, sent some of his loose brass across the table. He looked at me wide eyed and said "That thing has a bit of a breeze doesn't it?" We laughed, no harm no foul, he wanted to look through my rig and I let him run a few shots. It was a good day, still I felt bad haha.

I'm liking the Area 419 Hellfire as well. I changed from a ZRO Delta Cowl Induction brake which was very good at reducing recoil, this is now going to be for sale. The reason I changed was so that I could use the 419 suppressor mount.
I run the same system paired with TBAC ultra can’s. Just wait till @BisSilent tries @TBACRAY cans!

Love my Area 419 Hellfire, best break I have used. Super easy install like others have said.
The easy on easy off is great, for some reason I always thought it was a pain cleaning with the brake on. I guess because I had to clean solvent out of each port and it seemed to hold just a bit of solvent in front of the crown.

I have a Hellfire on a 6.5 Grendel 20 Inch barrel and I have no issues with it. I also like how quickly you can remove it and switch it with a can since they make adapters for them to fit the break adapter.

Agreed. I just pop the brake off and put it in a dish with CLP and let it soak while I clean everything else and then scrub it down and wipe it off and pop it back on.

Let us know what you decide is better!!
I’ve shot a 6.5cm with a fat bastard and my 6BR and 280 with hellfires and I feel the hellfire has a hell of a lot less concussion on the shooter than the Bastard brakes. Both the 3 port (for my 6BR) and the 2 port (on my 280) both mitigate recoil extremely well and don’t leave me with a headache. There’s also no POI change going between my brake and my ultra 9 which is nice.

Anyone ever compare the Area 419 Hellfire to the Incite Arms Heathen? I used to run the APA little bastard gen 2 on my 6.5cm and switched to the heathen and love it, not as obnoxious and seems to do better with recoil, I would love to see a comparison between the Heathen and the Hellfire

When you say "no" POI shift, as in zero, or within say 1/4 inch? Interested in this as I've been eyeballing a TBAC can dedicated for one of my rifles.

I have both the sidewinder and Heathen.
Heathen is noticeable less nasty and while maybe a touch less effective I prefer the super stable recoil it seems to promote.
You really can’t go wrong with either.

At 100yds there is no noticeable POI shift. Mind you I have a heavy varmint contoured barrel on my BR and a MTU barrel on my 280. Whether that makes a difference I don’t know but these are just my results. Highly recommend getting a TBAC can tho.

My hellfire shifts POI .2 mills (<1 moa) down at 100 meters, between being unmounted and mounted and this is on a heavy barrel. Not that this applies to your question regard suppressor to brake shift but gives you another data point. The shift is repeatable and always the same.

I've owned all 3. My favorite is the Heathen. They are all very similar when it comes to recoil mitigation, it's the smaller details that sets them apart.

The heathen does a better job mitigating blast to the shooter, and that's accomplished through the brake port geometry. The edges of the Heathen are all radiused, the Area 419 is a bitter rougher, with really sharp ports. I've also had issues with the Area 419 collar getting locked up.

While the Area 419 does a good job mitigating recoil, the Insite Arms Heathen is a better brake in my opinion.

Do you mean you have poi change on no brake (bare muzzle) vs brake installed? If so, that makes sense. .2 mil is a lot for just a brake though.

I’ve found I don’t feel the blast to the face with a Hellfire; it’s awesome. Had a headache after shooting a few matches with a Lil’ Bastard

I found the same thing. the little bastard would rattle the shooters sinuses pretty good. I always felt in behind my eyes and if was not comfortable at all. The Hellfire does not cause any discomfort to me the shooter but everyone else does not have a good time.

With that being said I want to try the Insight Arms 4 port Heathen brake.

I’ve shot 419, APA lil and fat Bastard, Piercision, all are effective at mitigating recoil, however the 4 port Heathen is most effective IMO...and the only one of the group you’re able to clean the entire crown with.

One of the best things I like is the ability to go from muzzle thread cap to break to TBAC suppressor. Just had to get used to the left handed threads.
very good effective well thought out system.
Don't forget the Linear Flash Suppressor. Area 419 opens up your options so you can try things really quickly. Not trying to sell anyone on anything but this is what is working for me.

Thread Protector
Linear Flash Suppressor
Muzzle Brake
Suppressor

I changed from a ZRO Delta Cowl Induction brake to the Area 419 3 port brake and had a 1 Mil shift straight down.

I use the Area 419 Hellfire brake on my Bergara HMR and HMR Pro 6.5 CM and it has worked great. Really like the ability to easily put on and remove this brake.

Very interesting stuff here. I have the TBAC brake for my 280AI since I bought the can for it as well. Bought a new barrel with the hellfire from 419 the other day for my 6.5CM Tikka. How do the two compare? Almost makes me want to get a hellfire for my 280AI.

I have a converted AAC7.62SD and a Hellfire on a AR10 I built with a 16” Faxon Gunner barrel. It has very a repeatable a 1.3 mil shift down when I put the suppressor on, does not seem to matter what ammo. Absolutely no shift horizontally. Makes the 51T attachment system look like the pile of crap 💩 it is; that thing shifted all over the place and was not repeatable at all. The fact that AAC still sells it AND proclaims it “greatness” is delusional to the level of thinking Biden is impeccably honest, would not use the presidency for personal gain, and that his tax plan will ONLY raise taxes on millionaires like himself. I digress.

Back on point. I ran a test by switching between each shot from the brake to suppressor, back and forth for three shots, then adjusted the scope up 1.3 mils and with the suppressor on, I shot three more rounds into the same group as the brake. I was using Federal 168 GMM. I do like how this AR10 shoots. Very mild recoil with brake.

Get the hellfire man. I’m running the 2 port brake on my 280 and it works pretty damn well. I use it when everyone in the indoor range is running brakes and rapid firing AR’s. But it’s extremely easy to switch over to my ultra 9 with the area 419 adapter. Also makes it easy for me to throw it on my 6BR when I shoot it.
