Rifle Scopes Ares BTR for $600 or...

I picked up a Ares for 600$ off of Doug.
I’m impressed, I told myself I would never buy a Chinese optic again after a couple bad Helos. But at 600$ you won’t get a scope with more features and a usable mag range. It gets a little cloudy at 27 power, but nothing like my xtr2 was at 20 power. At its regular price of 850$, it hangs with all the 1000$ optics, just take your pick. But at 600$ it’s a absolute steal.

I've got four of the 4.5-27x50 Ares BTRs on various rifles, and feel they're well worth the money - especially at the March sale prices. Though floating dot reticles seem to be all the rage right now, I prefer the + aiming point of the BTR's reticle. The Midas TAC 6-24x50 lacks only the illuminated reticle, but goes with the floating dot, focus down to 10yd, and has a covered windage knob. I feel the glass quality of the TAC is slightly better, and the clicks on the turret knobs are definitely a step up from those of the Ares BTR.

I had a TAC and sold it, but then went with an Ares for the excellent price. Adding some Factory Team green grease to the o-rings greatly improves the turret feel. Right now they are on par with the feel of a Tango6 gen 1 that I have. More defined than stock, but not as clicky as a TAC, if that makes sense. The glass appears the same to my eyes.

Found my deal I was looking for on a PST 2 with the reticle that I prefer - $799.99. It should be on the way soon. Very happy with the deal!

I have had the Ares BTR and the ETR as well as the Cronus. The Ares BTR is a great scope for the money. It is not an ETR or Cronus, but it is not priced to be either. At $600 and a little less for used, it is extremely hard to beat.

I’m a bit nervous. I bought a gen 1 BTR and then they updated the turrets. No massive issue other than I live in NZ so have to wait for the exchange rate to fall before considering another optic.
Was eyeing up the Cronus BTR and Razor Gen 2 but the US dollar is so strong right now.

Don’t want to get a Cronus BTR and then the ETR comes out all sexy with upgrades.....
