I'm moving from VA to mid/southern WVA as soon as I can. Was going to move to TX, but not feeling the same about it these days. Don't even need a CCP in WVA as long as you're of legal age and have legal ownership of the firearm. Even now Charleston WVA has its cork sniffing and coal lobbying that's literally poisoning them (2014 Elk River disaster). Not going to act like it's the best state ever, but if you just want a little corner of land where you can take care of yourself they have the land and most of the laws for it.

As for Florida, they have a live fire training requirement, same as most states do and is typically required for ease of reciprocity, but they accept many forms of proof of proficiency. Proof of hunter's safety course is one such form, as is a DD214, POST training, NRA class, or a state approved course, but all of which at some point required evidence of firearm proficiency. I'm certain you used one of these forms, otherwise you wouldn't have a CCL from Florida.

I got my shit online for like $30 flat, lol. I'll be goddamned to spend more time and money complying with their license bullshit, the cheapest bare legal minimum is all I intend to oblige the qualifications with. They want my sweat they can have it off my balls. I've never had a ND in over twelve years of shooting pistols and rifles at least once a month, knock on wood. I could stand to take a tactical pistol course, screwing around developing bad habbits in the backyard gets boring.

My "proficiency" test in Hunter's ed back in 2002 consisted of shooting at videos of deer in a classroom with a laser trainer rifle.
I'd already tagged a handful of deer by then.
Funny note: The classroom was 15 or 20 folks. Me and the kids I hunted with at the time, along with a few others with their heads out of their asses were the only ones that didn't light up the badass buck with the big house a few hundred yards down range from it.

Cheyenne Bodie, I lived in VA for about 3yrs, Richmond area. But I was born and raised here in WV. Honestly I couldnt get back here fast enough. WV has its share of problems, but nothing like I see happening elsewhere in the country.

Eh, Californians ain't so bad. They leave California to experience Texas, not to turn it into California. Most people who leave California are also the Conservative minority who want to feel more at home and not argue with their neighbors all the time. There is a lot of Conservative flight from liberal centers like Chicago, West Coast, and Northeast. They come to Texas for the jobs, the lower taxes, the cheaper homes, and the ability to stretch their dollars further.
I'm all about constitutional carry but I have to say that I'm glad Texas requires people to go through a class. Some of the people I seen in the class can't even hit the target/ barely qualify much less know the legal ramifications of using a firearm.

When the LARGEST city in South Dakota, Sioux Falls is less than 200,000 people, the next is Rapid City at less than 100,000, and the state has a population density of about 11 people per square mile. Constitutional Concealed Carry there would be similar to constitutional carry 200 years ago.
Texas on the other hand (just picking on Texas) has a population density about ten times that but the big issue is the number of big cities. How many cities/metro areas have a larger population than the whole state of South Dakota (even during bike week).
Even if 90% of the people in the big cities were responsible enough to be trusted to concealed carry in the big cities you would have thousands that shouldn't be carrying (based on intelligence not 2A rights). In just the Dallas-Fort Worth area that 10% would be more people than Sioux Falls, S.D.

Thanks for your wife's and your service, @Rocketvapor. Like I said, I'm for constitutional carry and I can also see the need for some regulation. I don't believe it's a black and white issue. I'm just glad we live in a society where we can openly have a discussion about the issues and try to elect people who (are supposed to) represent us.
