Evening, Gents!
I'm in the market for an entry level .50 BMG and I think I've settled on an Armalite AR-50.
I've been offered one for a good price, but it's an early model.
I noticed that Armalite is now producing the A1 "B" model.
For those who are more knowledgeable than myself, if I purchase the early model will I later wish I'd just bought the newer "B" model?
From what I can gather, the brake is different and the bolt release is a quick release instead of a machine screw. I understand about the quick release, but I'm wondering how the brake is different? Was it a manufacturing change, a cosmetic change, a functional change?
The other changes I've read about are new geometry bolt head and receiver lugs, and the improved bolt sleeve. Are these changes significant enough that I should try and get a "B" model instead? I'm not sure I understand exactly what these changes entail. Would the bolt race changes make for a smoother bolt travel?
I'm curious of the newer version is more accurate than the older version. I've shot exactly one round through an AR-50, but it was a year ago before I knew about the different revisions. Not sure which I shot, but it was sweet.
