Armalite SASS

If there is ANYONE on this forum that actually owns/has owned/has played with an Armalite SASS please PM me as I'm about ready to begin barrel break-in/load development and could use some pointers.
Several hours of searching this forum and the reloading section has not yielded any hands-on specific data, only a few references to. 'course I may have missed something or don't know WTH I'm doing with the search engine.

No break in required, just shoot it. It has a lapped barrel on it so its already smooth.

The literature that came with it recommended the first 100 rounds be molycoated with lots of bore cleaning - like after each round x 5 or 10 then after each 5 rounds x whatever, etc.. It's one of the early ones that had the mock suppressor from Advanced Armament. Don't know if it has a lapped barrel or not. Is it possible to determine this by direct examination aided by a bore scope, or through Armalite by serial # inquiry?

Shoot it...I doubt you would notice a difference in accuracy if you played the moly-scrub routne per the instructions. I had one - shot the piss out of it and sold it...nice gun and very accurate. I later built a SASS copy off a Noveske N6 and armalite T upper with SASS system...same accuracy.

Never heard of anyone recommending moly for break in, but I'd be disregarding that in a hot second. Total waste of time, and is going to create some problems in getting the moly completely out once it's "done." Moly creates at least as many problems as it "cures" (and I'd have to say, creates far more, particularly in an autoloader).

Personally, I don't bother with the whole break in process and have pretty well determined that it isn't worth the time. Barrels are perishable tooling, nothing more. You use them until they don't meet the standards you require, and then it's time for a new one. There's a finite number of rounds here, and I can't justify wasting that bore life on "break in." If the barrel is a premium custom aftermarket barrel, a large part of what I'm paying for is that it's done right, lapped and ready to go.

I don't have a SASS, but I recently built a National Match Armalite AR-10 (M110) for use in 1,000 yard competition. Hope to do a Long Range Service Rifle team at Camp Perry next year. AMU specs, Satern 9.3" twist barrel. No break in, other than the minor adjustments it took to get the gas hole size correct for the ammo we'll be using. Be happy to keep you posted on the progress once the season starts again, but no, there's no break in process that I'll be doing.
