The first of a batch of ASW 338's have started to arrive and get their S&B optics mounted.

Those with chassis systems on order, the last of the parts have arrived from coatings and assembly is in process, I'm told they will be shipping next week.

One kidney should be sufficient. If you want extra options, then may be 1/2 of the liver will leave you enough for a scope . LOL

    Very nice rifle indeed.

Is $9375 for the entire rifle or for just the chassis?

Re: Ashbury ASW 338's start arriving!

That's a complete Mod 1 338 rifle, 27 or 20 inch Rock fluted 1 in 9.4 barrel, Surefire or AAC break/suppressor adapter. The Mod 1 is a side folder, push button adjustable for LOP, pad height and cheek piece height. Full length top, side and bottom rails (0, 20, 30, 40 or 60 MOA slope in the top), plus 4" rails. The 10 rounds box mags are 3.725 internal length (over CIP max). The pistol grip is a Magpul MIAD, adjustable for trigger reach.

The test target shows a .2 5 shot group with RUAG 250gr target, the other two are .3's.

The bipods are the excellent LRA units, scopes are all S&B 5-25's, P4F or H2CMR, some locking knobs, some standard.

Two of these will be shot in class this weekend out to 2k yards, should be fun!

    Who's your intended market? Civilians?

These are available to anyone that can own a rifle. Sorry, the 9375 is the base rifle, optics are not included. Normally, on the 338's I suggest the 5-25 S&B. The 308 version starts at 7350, with them I suggest the S&B 3-20, I'll be getting the first of those in January.

Custom Surgeon XLs....basically they don't have the built in rails on the top.

Re: Ashbury ASW 338's start arriving!

The 338's are Surgeon XL-II's, available only in the ASW rifle. The action has some mods from the standard XL to feed from the longer magazine, plus a second forward action screw and a top profile to accomodate the monolithic top rail.

The 308's are on 591 actions. The chassis is available for the standard XL (limited supply right now), Rem 700 S/L or matching profiles and the Sako TRG 42. A Savage 338 stock is in the works, as well as other action profiles.

The triggers are Huber two-stage, coating is Ceracoat and hard-coat anodize.

Got me wishing I lived a little closer to a range in the UK where we can still shoot .338!!

Very nice looking bit of kit!

Re: Ashbury ASW 338's start arriving!

I think you are dramatically undervaluing the barreled action part. The XL-II is a fair bit more than the XL in the first place. Surgeon for example, sells the 308 rifle for 5K, which, if you subtract $500 for the McMillan stock makes for a $4500 barreled action right there.

What's retail on an AX338, or similar system? Not out of line if you ask me, but everyone's perception of value is different. The 5 shot group from that particular rifle is .360" edge to edge, using factory RUAG ammo. Not to say that other rifles don't shoot as well, or all the guns from APO do shoot like that, but that's the level of quality that's being built, for which you will pay a certain price. It's certainly not for everyone, no doubt about that!

Re: Ashbury ASW 338's start arriving!

The bipods shown here are the current Long Range Accuracy systems. I'll be working with Kasey on the new Atlas soon, plus I've got some testing to do on a new system from Elite Iron that looks VERY nice as well.

Re: Ashbury ASW 338's start arriving!

yeah, while i have to say, i love surgeon actions, i have an XL, and i really do like the chasis, but the price seems somewhat crazy.

    for example
    ax338 around 7500
    mcmillan tac338 around 5000
    surgeon remedy around 6000
    TRG42 around 3200

these are some pretty nice rifles. but really 2000 dollars more than an AX338?

im sure its a wonderful rifle, just dont know if its 2000 dollars more wonderful than a AIAX or surgeon remedy for that matter

    looks awesome though
