Damn, lots of dark, pessimistic posts, but it really is bullshit, and I can prove it to you.
I've seen really bad shit too. I've seen hatred and evil personified and then unleashed on innocent people. I've made mistakes. I've done bad things. I've saved people. I've tried to save people and failed. I've had strangers and loved ones die in my arms. I've cried like a bitch for both the dead and the living. I've sought wisdom and understanding my whole life. I still seek it.
Contrary to what people say, God does NOT only allow what you can handle. Sometimes it's way more than you can handle. Sometimes you don't make it. Sometimes you have to be carried all the way home.
I've also seen people with nothing give a stranger their last morsel of food. I've seen people with no hope keep it alive somehow. I've seen people risk their lives for a stranger. I've become brothers with criminals (criminally minded people), whom I never really liked, and would never associate with out in the real world.
If you really believed people were bad then from that assumption you will believe all sorts of other bullshit. My main point is that if you really believe people are bad you would not be FOR Liberty. You would not be for governments and individuals acknowledging the value of human life and acknowledging those human rights that directly stem from that inestimable value of each individual. You can say you believe whatever you want, but it's only actually true if you value it.
Your actions do not betray your beliefs. Your actions betray your values. Your beliefs only inform your values, but people lie to themselves even more than they lie to each other. Believing something is an empty vessel without your values lining up with that belief. Action follows values directly.
Yea, I hate people too. I say it all the time too. Why the fuck would I risk my life for them? Why would I think that something inherently bad had any value at all? Why would I care if their rights were upheld when I don't believe they can live up to the responsibilities that come with those rights? Why wouldn't I be a Marxist and believe in the state rather than people? Why wouldn't I think it wholly good for the state to enslave all the people? They're bad right? They deserve what they get, right?
We say people suck and we hate them because they disappoint us (I do it too), but really what's happening is that we hate being constantly disappointed by people that we love so much we're willing to lay our lives down for them. They ought to be more thankful than just repeating some slogan. They ought to so thankful that they go about their days and live their lives in state of perpetual gratitude for what they have and what has been sacrificed to give them this la-la land so unlike most of the world. They ought to be incredibly kind to each other out of this deep gratitude. That they're not is just unacceptable. It's maddening.
None are good, no not one. Once you understand what that means and understand where you stand personally I think you get a deeper insight than just saying that people suck.
If you say you love people, deeply care about them, and want to "help" everyone you're likely a bloodthirsty, misanthropic Marxist who loaths humanity, revels in human suffering, and knows nothing but contempt for your fellow man. There are, of course, exceptions, but this is a valid rule of thumb. As is in my signature, these people will torture their fellow man without end, because they do so with the approval of their own diseased conscience. These are the evil people who need killing and they aren't just overseas. They are the people most attracted to power, and I don't care if it's a zoning board, becoming a US Senator, or being a warlord.
The good people will all say they don't like anyone and just want to be left alone. That's the way it is. It's the difference between hearing and actually listening and understanding. It's probably the very beginning of wisdom just like calling things what they actually are...
