At what air temperature would you switch from Center-X to Polar Biathlon?

For me Eley Match gets 'difficult'/inconsistent below about 6 C ( c. 43F ). note im talking about powder temp not air temp.
By 3 C my velocity is under 1050 ft/s and the ES has doubled.

I use Polar Biathlon all year long and it works great but my 1827F's chamber is probably designed around this ammo. I live at high altitude and it rarely gets above 100 degrees. Most common shooting conditions are between 40 and 90 degrees. More expensive but this particular lot # of ammo has been worth the $!

Is it primarily a lube difference, one that works better in the cold?

The shape of the nose is different in the Lapua PB, it feeds fantastic!!! The lube is different too I think.

I shoot at 6000ft elev the most.

Are you a Biathalon shooter or do you just like the 1827F? There's a biathalon club near me Im considering visiting to see if it would be a fun thing to do in the winter.

Ha, no, even when I was young my endurance and energy levels were below average, so no Biathlon for me.

The 1827F is by far the most innovative 22 rimfire ever made. I've won tactical style rimfire matches solely because of how fast I can shoot it without breaking position. Doesn't hurt that it averaged .8" at 100M for 10 shots in the Lapua test center either! I've had mine for 8 years now but if I were to start over I'd get a 1727 because of the easy scope mounting. I had to have a custom picatinny mount made for my rifle because it wasn't designed to support a scope.

Low 40’s my vudoo using center x starts getting strange

I keep it in my chest pocket and I’m ok but if the mag is sitting on the table for a few minutes it opens up.

I have done some extensive testing in the last several years on the effect of temperature to ammo and rifle.
What I have learned is a lot depends on the rifle.
My daughter competes In Biathlon and has a couple of different rifles.
Her Annie is the best and least effected by temp. That said I give the PB at around 15f depending on the temp trend.
Now the other 22s we have it’s a complete gamble and each rifle has it limit.
The Vudoo is similar to the Annie. I have a Savage that can’t group below 30f with any ammo. I have another Savage that has no problem with 15f as long as it’s a “good“ target ammo.
So my thoughts are test the gun and the ammo to learn what it likes or doesn’t like.
Good luck
