Rifle Scopes Athlon ares vs cronus.

I what to shoot my 7mm rem magnum to a mile. I can buy a new ares etr 4.5x29-56 for $1200 or a used cronus 4.5x29-56 for the same money. What do you think?

Is it a used Cronus or a used Cronus BTR?

If it's a used Cronus get the Ares ETR, if it is a clean used Cronus BTR then get the Cronus BTR

Glass is better on the btr, but I like the clicks better on the etr. Would still choose the btr.

I have had all three of these scopes and honestly I would take the older Cronus over the other two.... I just like the reticle better.

Different strokes for different folks.

Both models of Cronus the glass looks better to my eyes than the Ares and maybe my Ares was just terrible but honestly I like my cheapo Vortex PST II better than it (glass wise).

I've owned both, both great scopes!
I find the parallax adjustment better on the Cronos, but I think you would have to decide for yourself if the extra $ is worth it. For me today, I would say Cronos.

I haven’t had extensive time with the g2 razor by any imagination and my prescription glasses could certainly play a part in the glass aspect in my limited time with it but I would too. I love my Cronus. Turrets are perfect, I like the slight sponginess vs the hard clicks as I think it helps me keep from over dialing and the glass is great and I like the floating cross over an open center or dot.

I have two BTRs and would recommend. I recently removed the O rings on my BTR and the difference in 'feel' is night and day. Since I rarely shoot in the rain and it's as dry as Rosie O'Donnel's pussy here year round, I think I'll leave them off.

No experience w/ Cronus, but from what I'm told, they are not worth the price increase over the BTRs. Better but not that much $$$ better. That's a solid source too. ?

Not knocking the Razor in anyway, it's a tank, and if you run out of ammo, it would be a great weapon smacking stuff with it!
I think the color on the Athlon stuff is more natural, where as the Razor colors the image. Not sure how else to describe it

A friend of mine told me about Athlon optics a few weeks back, I honestly never heard of them. After reading this post, I looked at the scopes and looked for retailers near me. Turns out a buddy I’ve known since we were kids is an authorized distributor. Guess I’ll be buying one.

Based on other's experience, yes. I have no experience withe the ETRs.
