I ordered an Athlon Cronus BTR GEN2 4.5-29×56 APRS6; going to put it on top of a Vudoo Apparition in an MPA BA Competition chassis with a 20" MTU barrel. Just waiting on Vudoo to call me for the build confirmation. Got a set of Warne 34mm Precision Scope Rings MEDIUM 7221M with the scope for a buck.

Am I hunting down the right lane, or should I make some changes?

Sounds pretty close to mine. Athlon Cronus gen 1 with a 22” MTU in an MPA chassis. Only thing different is I used a MPA scope mount on a 30 MOA rail.

Ordered. Decided to go with a 40 MOA base, 20" Ace MTU barrel (FDE), MPA BA chassis (FDE), MPA ultra bag rider, Trigger Tech Diamond Pro Curve. In just 16 long miserable weeks I should have it.

Now to decide what bipod to get for it. I have four Harris 6-9" bipods, but probably will go with an Atlas for the Vudoo.

With the 40 MOA base, I'm hoping I can still dial/zero at 25 yards for short distance. Can either of you confirm that? It's unlikely to find a range around here beyond 100 yards, but I want to keep that option open.

Edit add: the Cronus is supposed to have 32 Mils of vertical elevation.

I don't use a Cronus, but I have an Ares ETR with the same 32 mrad of elevation on my Vudoo in an MPA. It is on a 30 moa rail and I use the Burris XTR rings that have another ~32 MOA in them for a total of around 62moa. My rifle is zeroed at 32m without issue. You'll have no problem with a 40 moa rail.

I've got Cronus 4.5-29x56 scopes on four of my 22RF repeaters - jelrod-converted 40XB, two V-22s, and one RimX. All four of these scopes track very well, their click values & reticle values jibe perfectly while shooting 'the box', whether I'm clicking or holding-off using the reticles, and the glass is pretty darned good. Couldn't ask for more, with the exception of a larger floating dot in the APRS6 reticle - the oldest scope on the 40XB has the heavy pre-BTR reticle, while the remaining two are the thinner BTR reticles. I'd prefer that the newest scope with the APRS6 had the BTR reticle in its place.

With a 30 MOA base I have 24 mils elevation. You will be fine.

I was trying to decide between the APRS1 and the APRS6 and liked the .2 mil hash marks all the way down the hold over rather than the .5 mil hash marks of the APRS1. The floating dot looks the same in both of those reticules. Should have the scope in hand today, it's "out for delivery".

You can go up to a 60moa base with the Cronus with no issues. so 40moa you'll have more than enough room
