This is my first spotting scope, but I’m reasonably certain this shouldn’t be in the body.

Am I correct?

Odd...it almost looks like the paint they use to black out the sides of the prism? My 20-60 Cronus does not have it...

In person it looks fibrous or paper like. I assumed it was some type of gasket material used between components.

Kind of sucks, I just got this thing Thursday from Cameraland.

Is it on top of the prism? Can you blow or Q-Tip it out?

No, it’s behind the first layer of glass. It looks like it’s stuck to the back side of the glass.

An update for anyone interested: Doug took care of me.

He had a shipping label sent to me from Athlon saving me the shipping cost. He also shipped me a new unit from his store as soon as the old unit was delivered to Athlon.
