anyone ever try the leg extentions for the atlas? are they solid or is there movement?

i need to get a couple rails for my rifles that fit the mount itself, is there one in particular that i should be looking at?

Re: atlas bipod

Mine are very solid. Worth it, though I question why I should have to buy extensions for a $225 bipod...

Re: atlas bipod

I would not say you have to buy the leg extensions, I rarely use them, but they do come in handy in a comp when you need them. To me they show the versatility of the Atlas. You can add multiple leg extension if you want to get as much height as needed.

Re: atlas bipod

Sure like the Atlas bipods. Have a couple of them and have a set of leg extensions on both of them. For me without a set of extensions on its a bit to low. Even with the extention on I still have them set at at the 2nd notch or so depending on the terrain. I got all my rails from B&T. More brands to choose from now. I would just keep them all the same so that when you move the bipod from gun to gun you won't need to adjust the lever tention nut, I like'm fittin snug, some rails fit a little different than others.

Considering that there is movement without extensions its a safe assumption that extensions will magnify it. I wouldn't exactly call the short legs solid but it seems like all bipods are an exercise in compromise on some level.

This.

Ever try getting a 6-9'' Harris to extend to 9-12''?

That's right, you gotta buy a whole new bipod.

I'll take the V8's versatility anyday.

I have the Atlas V8 with the Arms #17S attachment. Just bought the BT-15 rail for my Remy 5R HS stock. The Arms will not fully close on the rail. Any one ever have this problem? And what did you do short of grinding down the rail or buying a new rail.

Don't mean to hijack, just curious. And I'm not knocking Accu Shot or B&T Ind., I like the bipod just haven't got to use it yet and was thought I would see if anyone else had the same problem.

Re: atlas bipod

The Arms is not adjustable that I can see, and from what I understand they no longer use it. Maybe that's why, for the variances on rails. Doesn't appear to be any interference with the screws. Acts like the outer edge of the rail is to thick and not letting the Arms adapter close all the way. I may just either try and file, or machine, the underneath side of the angled part of the rail, or the flat surface of the rail. I'll just not be able to use the flush cup feature of the rail if I remove material from the flat surface. Either way I'll have to paint it or something. No big deal really, just thought I would see if anyone else had the same problem and what they did.

Re: atlas bipod

jlaw973, I'm not sure but I thought we were using ADM levers when we started delivery of the V8's. It doesn't matter but just a bit confusing.

Anyhow, the ARMs is not adjustable, sometimes they are tight like T I G H T where you have to force the lever over. In fact the ARMs mounts I have, I have to use a cheater to pry the lever out....

While we strive to keep our rails +/-.005 we are capable of failure and the one you have could be out of spec.

There is no way for me to tell you where the problem lies without the stuff in front of me. I can suggest that if you have other picatinny rails, you can try the lever mount on them and see if it works.

We'll work with you to get what you want/need and replace the rail if it's bad.
