Re: Atlas V8 with AI Spigot

Does anyone have a pic of the Atlas Spigot together with the Badger Ordnance IMUNS night vision mount ? Just curious to see how they work together.

Re: Atlas V8 with AI Spigot

I am trying to understand how the spigot adjuster works.
I installed some allen screws into the sides of the spigot support (which tightend up the spigot to its mounting base), as well as added just a light coat of JB weld on the faces of the bracket that come into contact with the AICS stock, to get that last little rocking out of it.
Could you get a picture of the stem? I am wondering if they did a split pin with a wedge screw.

Re: Atlas V8 with AI Spigot

No split pin.

Basically the spigot stem "floats" in the adapter. When the knob is loose there is enough play to insert the adapter into the chassis and for it to catch the latch. When you tighten the knob it pulls the body of the adapter against the front of the chassis. Essentially it's like it's trying to pull the spigot back out of the chassis.

If you have the knob tightened before you install the adapter into the chassis, it's too short to latch.

I hope that paints a mental picture. It will probably be a week before I can get a video up on the Atlas. I am knee deep in orders and I have a promotional board I have to somehow find time to study for.

Re: Atlas V8 with AI Spigot

I ended up having to take the top screws on the spigot apart to allow me to get it to lock in to my chasis system. I think the spigot pin was a fraction too short out of the factory.

Basically this pin bit of the spigot that actually clicks into the chasis, its split in the middle allowing the top scews to travel through the pin. The pin travels all the way to the front of the spigot body. So imagine the spigot body is loose and can move back and forth slightly on the spigot pin... The tension knob at the front simply pushes the spigot body back into the chasis of the AICS thus reducing any movement or slop. A split washer has been added to facilitate in the tightening of the tension knob giving you a range, without it you would just have loose or totally solid with no in-between.

Make sense?

Love the V8 atlas by the way. Such a kick ass product!

Upgrade? I want them to make one for the TRG rifles.

LoneWolfUSMC, "Functional Artwork" the first time I stood away from the Atlas while watching a photographer taking pictures, I had the same observation.

Mike, I have the latest TRG/Atlas adaptor in hand and we will be making another one. Are you on the TRG list?

Re: Atlas V8 with AI Spigot

Kasey I ran it during our training session this week and it got quite a workout.

It just seems to be made for the AE. It doesn't feel bulky or gangly like the Harris. I ran some fast drills that required panning and didn't have any problems.

Once I get a little more time on it, I will have some constructive criticism coming your way. I have some suggestions that I think will make a great piece even better.

I am not Kasey as I wasn't aware of it. Do you have a link? I'm 99% sure I need to be on it

Re: Atlas V8 with AI Spigot

Got my first v8 in the other day, interested to see how it works out compared to the v7. Takes all of the "slop" out of the legs, we'll see if it is a good thing or a bad thing, as I was thinking that "slop" is what helped prevent bipod hop.

Re: Atlas V8 with AI Spigot

Thank you so much VMAN. I was frustrated at how much slop I was getting from my Atlas V8 with the AI Spigot. It wouldn't even lock onto the chassis. I looked at your post and finally realized what the deal was. I took the top two screws out and slid out the locking pin to figure out what the deal was. My locking pin was too short from the factory so I had to have it protrude a bit further out for it to actually secure itself to my rifle. Thanks again.
