Night Vision ATN Thor 384 ->640 firmware uppgrade

Hav anyone tried to put the 640 firmware in the 348 Thor?
At work we have a Flir Termalcamera, we changed the firmware to a better model.
I wondered if the same could be done with a ATN...Could the only differens in the electronics be the firmware?

Short answer, No.

Hardware (logic circuits_ and software are very similar in function ... though hardware weighs more than software and hardware is harder to change.

Also specific components of the hardware such as lenses, sensors, displays, power systems, those are harder to change also.
