auction arms.com rant

Anyone on the board familiar with auctionarms.com? I was not until very recently. I always usually buy my firearms from you guys here, or gunsamerica, or gunbroker even. I know we like to poke fun at gunbroker every once and a while, but I am appreciating them a lot more now.

I have been lookng for a Tikka 595 Master sporter to compliment my Sako finnfire 22lr. If you google Tikka master sporter, you will see a link to one for sale on auctions arms. It was a new auction site to me, but I decided to try it out as it was set up very similarly to GB. I registered and decided to give it a try on the master sporter. 1st attempt.. Doh! I cant bid since I dont have any other feedback from other auctions... WTF.. how do I get feedback if I cant bid? So I try and PM the seller only to find out it is not a PM at all (Private Message) their PM stands for Public Message. You cannot privately correspond with the seller, it is posted for everyone to see. So i ask guy about honoring feedback from other sites like this one and GB and others, and he says no of course. I also notice that this is the ONLY site he has listed the rifle on and claims the rifle has never been fired, which I doubt anyway since the 595 was discontued a while ago. I then attempted to ask the guy if I could just buy it for what he wanted for it, and he publicly tells me that I have to follow the board rules and not inquire about the reserve price and he wishes to not provide me with his email so we can do business... So I gave up since he obviously does not want my money.. I would have paid him what he wanted for it. I have to ask why make it so hard to do business? It is just a rifle, do you want to sell it or not?

I guess there have to be sites like this out there to make us appreciate how good the Hide is... Thanks for making it easy here.

Re: auction arms.com rant

I have used AA with no problems, although I usually use GB due to more selection.

Perhaps your experience is a message from Allah that you are not supposed to buy the Tikka.

Re: auction arms.com rant

the seller has option of making the comments either public or private. I bid on a 595 just recently on there in 6.5x55, and made couple of comments to seller and they werent posted public.

Re: auction arms.com rant

I saw that rifle as well - the seller made several claims to accuracy which are strange comments to make on a rifle that you have not fired. That is certainly not to say that it wouldn't be as or more accurate than what the seller stated - I have two Master Sporter rifles (.223 & .308) and both are hammers - but his accuracy claims make his new/unfired comments sound dubious.

Re: auction arms.com rant

I too have been looking at buying a Tikka Master Sporter. I have came across this same listing. I started looking for one about a year ago and that listing has been there from the beginning. I think the guy doesn’t even have it. You are correct bennjammin it shouldn’t be complicated either you want to sell it or not. I wouldn’t waste my time with that joker. Thanks
