Seriously? All y'all gonna ban pointy sticks next.

The US truly is that last bastion of freedom.

Just took a quick glance at Victoria's "prohibited" and "controlled" weapons lists. Holy fucking shit, literally a prison state. By the way 99% of the items on those lists can be crafted from everyday materials in less than 10 minutes with hand tools.

Next will be banning hands. That would be as hands can be made into fists and fists can be used to kill people. So, off with everyone’s hands (except the rulers because they need their hands to sign new, restrictive laws to keep the populace under control)

Long ago, I would have utterly not been able to think that the majority of the population would eagerly accept being subjected to this incremental and constant bombardment of tyranny and go: "Yeah! We love this! The state is looking out for us!". But after COVID and 2020 and seeing the downright deranged adherence to every fart coming from the government by a large portion of the public, to the point of willingly dismissing their own instincts and suspicions to obey the absurdity, it is not hard to imagine a majority of Victoria's voters cheering this shit on... Those cops at the 'knife checkpoints' probably never have to buy their own meals from all the coffees and snacks given to them by the sheeple.

Unfortunately, short of a civil war, Australia appears to be lost. We all know, the most powerful and destructive weapon is the human mind and that's why it is as pointless as pissing in the wind, to ban any item that may be used as a weapon. There's always a better one within arm's reach, more, or less, because ANYTHING can and will be used as a weapon.

Human populations reaching critical levels of complacency and comfort leads to catastrophes. There is a reason why Elon Musk is so hellbent on starting the Mars phase of the next step in human exploration. If you look at EVERY company he has founded or has acquired, it has something to do with Martian colonization.

SpaceX: Getting there, and heavy materials and large occupant capacity transportation between Earth and offworld assets.

Hyperloop: Contactless magnetic ground transport between Mars outposts and getting around the planet in general.

X/Twitter: Telecommunications and data processing.

Starlink: Planet-wide data interface, as well as interplanetary communications.

Tesla: All vehicles used in Mars and offworld sites will have to be electric.

Neuralink: Human-computer interface enabling for enhanced human senses and instant, synced in data support for the existing 5 senses. Would be essential for construction workers, scientists, and security forces operating in space or hostile atmospheres. Also enables humans to directly interface with and operate drones, robots, etc.

The last time humanity has reached a near critical population and complacency period was during the first Age of Exploration. Europe during the time of Columbus and Magellan was beset by horrific religious wars that claimed millions of lives, and theocratic oppression which saw scientific advancements halted and leading scientists forced to renounce their discoveries on the pain of torture and death. The New World enabled the tough, adventurous, and hardy to leave that world behind and found which would eventually become the USA and other places.

We are reaching this 1450s-esque critical mass again where a large percentage of people have willingly neutered themselves and allowed themselves to become defenseless sheep, while a minor percentage only seeks to obtain total control and compliance. And in the midst of all this, there are pockets of hardy and tough individuals just like in the Old World, but not in enough strength to overthrow or alter the rapidly declining facets of current society through force of arms alone.

So the only viable and pragmatic solution for the future, would be to branch out again, just like what Columbus, Drake, Cortez, Pizarro, and Balboa did. The "oceans" would be a lot more bigger, and empty this time, but in order for terran civilization to survive, it seems like at certain epochs, at least a portion of the human population must branch out, settle new domains, and return to a state of survival minded toughness paired with adventurous attitude so old ideas and mentalities which allowed humans to survive the Ice Ages can continue to thrive.

Humans have not ever left this planet and we never will. Not to the moon or anywhere else.

It's only one state, Victoria, that's banning the sale of them.
For now….

In Western Australia, they have just enacted sweeping “reforms” to their laws making it virtually impossible to stay legal as a sporting shooter, most clubs and ranges won’t be able to stay open. Queensland is rushing to bring in similar legislation, the other states won’t be too far behind.

What they really want to do is to ensure that the population is completely defenseless against what they have planned for 2032-2040. "15 minute cities", universal social credit, and mandatory health codes/injections are most likely involved, along with far more sinister things that they know a certain percentage of the citizenry will object to and physically resist. So right now is the beginning of the deforestation campaign, before the road and airport is put in. This has absolutely nothing to do with crime and public safety. This is to ensure that Joe Smith and his neighbors won't respond with rifle fire when government "inoculation squads" seize babies out of the arms of mothers and slam syringes into them...

interesting take on things. no disagreement here. for Homo Sapiens to survive,i have always thought that we have to get off this planet. i have always been surprised in a way about how we have repopulated after demographic disasters; the Mongol conquest, plague, the European wars you mention, the wipe out of pre European w. hemis. populations, the whole 20th century loss of life, many other events.
and i still agree with Malthus about population vs resource extraction. our tech has allowed us to get around him but just have to wonder for how long. at some point there is a real limit to the existence of gold, oil, copper, fertile land, water, etc, etc.
the fact is the greenies have some valid points that should be considered. their understanding of the causes of the problems is deranged and based on emotion and a result of a miserable education system and propaganda. their solutions are insanity and all are counterproductive. their elite heroes solution is mass extermination which won't work in the end unless the serfs are all sterilized, which there is a plan for.
doubt i will be around to see the outcome. i don't care to and looks to be a long way off if there is a solution found.

Thanks for the humor,, needed a good laugh. Ban knives? Only total idiots would do that.

Members of a well known big time motorcycle club were known to carry ball peen hammers. No law against carrying a concealed hammer.
Easy enough to prove they are carried as weapons, not as tools. Simple arrest in this country.

We don't even let gang members wear patches in public here. Even wearing a support shirt will get you locked up.

Laughing, People think they can stop crime with made up pape'rized B/S laws some ticks or washer woman think/make up. Bullets stop crime, and used enough, at some point people will self police. Jails are just social meeting places to bring alike minds together for some specialized teaching of how to at times.
Its not called the criminal JUST-US system for no reason. If you want to stop what you consider as crime, harden your heart do do what need to be done to stop it, not staying the present path which promotes it. The JUST-US system has a huge monetary incentive to keep the ball rolling,...

Just to let everyone know know some points about this.
1: it was already illegal for the 2 drop-kicks to possess a machete.
2: it was already illegal to possess machetes in a public place
3: it was already illegal to disturb the peace with machetes in a public place
4: it was already illegal fight in a public space.

They (from what I read / heard) are 15 and 16yo import scumbags. They have been denied bail, and i fully expect there to be more than 4 charges each.

All that will happen is that people who need them for work (hortacultralists, lawn care people, tree-fellers, farmers and such) will have to probably file paperwork to own and use them now. This "new" law is ONLY going to hurt people who were using them legally. It will do NOTHING to hurt or deter criminals.

Everyone who correctly pointed out that they can be made in under 1hr in your back shed are on the money. The law doesn't do shit and 'straya at large was lost years ago.

You missed #5. The 2 main instigators were already on bail for similar violent offences

Didn't the UK ban large knives?

Not all of them yet. There is a proposal to ban "some" large knives and machetes.

A long time ago there was some ban passed on "pointy" knives. Chef's knives had to have a blunt tip. In an article from a long time ago some chef on his way to work carrying his professional cutlery in some kind of roll bag got nicked.
