Australia bans machetes

Not all of them yet. There is a proposal to ban "some" large knives and machetes.

A long time ago there was some ban passed on "pointy" knives. Chef's knives had to have a blunt tip. In an article from a long time ago some chef on his way to work carrying his professional cutlery in some kind of roll bag got nicked.
i think you can only carry a folding knife with 3" blade or smaller.

All that will happen is that people who need them for work (hortacultralists, lawn care people, tree-fellers, farmers and such) will have to probably file paperwork to own and use them now. This "new" law is ONLY going to hurt people who were using them legally. It will do NOTHING to hurt or deter criminals.

Wait, I thought we were talking about machetes. When did we start talking about Mexicans? 😆
