I was throwing some charges of H4350 today and my Auto throw started crunching the powder pretty bad. It got to a point where it won't throw at all anymore because it seems like it has lost power. I checked that the pulley was tight. I can't tell if the belt is slipping or the thing just doesn't have enough power anymore to push thru the crunching??? Anyone else experienced this issue?

    Thanks,

    Todd

    Ok, more info:

The belt is definitely not skipping on the pulleys. It seems like it is the servo not having enough power to push thru the crunching. I guess my next question is why is it crunching the powder so bad now??

Alright, I walked myself right thru this one?

Turns out, after disassembling the entire throw mechanism that this thing does not like Alliant Power Pro 2000-MR. It was caked everywhere in the mechanism and stuck all in the internal rubber wiper. That's what was causing all the crunching. Guess I'll have to stick to the larger kernel powders.

Yep, the autothrow hates ball powders that are small enough to get in the cracks and subsequently jam it up.

Took me about 10 throws of CFE BLK to lock mine up solid and figure that same thing out. Each throw was weaker and weaker until nothing other than "errrrrr" noise.

That is too bad. I guess since I'm only throwing 25 grains of power pro, I could just trickle the entire charge. Either that or switch to varget for my .223.

For my blackout 150gr loads im shooting 19.4gr of the cfeblk. I fill the case, put the pan on the scale and by the time Im finishing seating the bullet the next load is pretty much finished trickling. Might take a second or two of waiting but Im usually watching tv as well so I dont really notice any delay in my process. Its still faster than the chargemaster can trickle it and more accurate to boot. Its a pain but not one I really feel.
