Was in Advance Auto Parts this evening and was looking at paint. I noticed a spray can with the brandname "Duplicolor" or something like that. It was rubberized undercoating. I'm tempted to try it but was wondering if anyone else had ever tried it?

I've also used a sprayon paint on the bed of a Tacoma I used to own. The paint texture was like fine black sandpaper. It was very hard and did not scratch easily.

Yeah it works but usually has a bit of a gloss to it. I am using Beartooth camo antiskid tape on barrels. It is about bulletproof and can be easily removed without messing up the blue job should you wish to.

i don't know if i would use rubberized undercoating on a rifle. i do know that if you chose to, make 100% sure you get the drying type. they make a non-drying type that will stay sticky.

Yeah...ceramic header paint might do it.

Never thought of the stink factor.

When you guys paint your rifles, do you take the barrel out of the stock or just paint it in place?

Re: Auto undercoating spray for barrels?

I've used the drying type undercoating for texture on stocks in the past, but wouldn't do a barrel with it. I've also gone back to useing spray bedliner as a texture for the stocks.

Gravel Guard is the proper product for texture coating. Available at any auto body
paint supply. You can easily vary the texture and it is made to be painted over. Cloudy clear in color so no coverage problems.
