AW .338 vs. Custom Rifle

Any suggestions pro/cons on buying a used AW here on the forum vs buying a custom built .338 in an AICS chassis?

If they are the same price, which would you buy and why?

Any long range accuracy differences in general (I realize its a mixed bag with a used rifle)?

I'd say it would depend on who built the custom rifle and what parts were used.

Personally I'd lean towards an AX build, I prefer the AX over the AW as far as ergos go and I could get a rifle exactly like I wanted instead of "settling" for something used.

Timeframe could be a consideration as well, most high end shops are backed up and high end parts are back ordered. If you need something right away, the AW might be a better option.

Whether it's an AW or AX, if utter reliability is a factor, go with an AI. There's something about having absolute confidence in your equipment....

I have an AI AWSM .338 Lapua and just got an AI AWSM rebarreled to 7mm Rem Mag. I have found my .338 to be very accurate with soft recoil and totally reliable. You can't go wrong buying one.
