Nice, thanks. The thunder storms were cool.

Re: Awesome video of Earth from a satellite.

when you see stuff like this, you have to wonder why,if we are alone as i believe we are, that it continues to be necessary (and it is at times necessary) to kill each other over stupid shit like the best economic system or the nature of god. IMHO our goal should be to get off this planet, the opportunity to do which we may have lost.

And where would we go?

Re: Awesome video of Earth from a satellite.

that's the point. IMHO. we need to expend our stupendous energies and rescources finding out. our nature seems to be such that we use stuff up carelessly. yea, yea, yea we need to "improve" our behaviors. since those are driven by 20K to 100mil years(depends on the way you look at several antropologic and palentologic issues),we ain't changing anytime soon. and,by the time evolutionary mechanisms work (or don't)) in that direction, say another 10k years,it will be way too late.

Re: Awesome video of Earth from a satellite.

Its a shame the pics didnt go by slower to really see the lightning bursts.

Re: Awesome video of Earth from a satellite.

Speaking of satellites, waiting on one to come crashing into my house any minute - the UAR's can possibly hit our state....

Re: Awesome video of Earth from a satellite.

Where would we go? Good question.

But the genuinely credible means of total mass extinction is a matter of when, not if.

As long as folks stop dead to worry about the imperfections any offplanet exodus proposal may present, we have little else to look forward to. Random chance and wishful denial are not valid species survival strategies.

The only responsible approach is to get butts in gear and start tackling the issues. Naysaying and headshaking do not serve any useful purpose. The longer we delay, the fewer resources will remain to resolve real issues.
