Searched to see if there was anything said before within the 338LM section or the AI thread. If I’m posting in the wrong area or missed something I apologize for the misplaced post.

I picked up an AXSR in 338LM a couple months back. While I finally got my 6.5 barrel and 308 bolt I still want to get some use out of the 338LM barrel.

BLUF.
I’ve shot a box of factory Hornady 285ELDM through it with great results. However, I am trying to figure out a starting point with 300gr Bergers, 215M primers, Lapua brass and H1000. I’m waiting on a modified case to measure the lands, but doing the “jam” method, I’m seating a decent jump to feed from magazines(I’d prefer to be able to not be stuck to single feed).

Being that all the components I have for this have been difficult to locate over the past year, almost two, I’d like to not waste too much developing a load. So I am looking to see if anyone has an MC or an SR load for 338 that’s mag length with good results to try as a baseline.

Thanks!

Consulting load data from Hodgdon's Reloading Center is a good starting point, but in the meantime, this is what Quickload says about that combo.

Unless you're shooting out past a mile, the 250s/285s should be sufficient.

Also, don't always believe that 'jamming the lands' is necessarily the way to go, as it's not always a truism.

This is the target that I submitted to Berger during their 250gr .338 Hybrid/OTM SH testing.

I could only play with seating depth.
