First, yes I have searched.

Can someone explain to me about the breaching ring on the Badger? I am wanting to build a switch barrel and was wondering if there is anything special about changing the barrels out with it. Also what is involved in swapping them?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Badger Action breaching ring?

Have the barrels made for your Badger.

Barrel in vise, torque action onto barrel with 1/2" Torque wrench, shoot. Unscrew barrel, repeat with other barrel.

The breaching ring is what the barrel snugs up against, the lugs on the bolt "lock" into the breaching ring, insuring the same headspace every time.

Re: Badger Action breaching ring?

the badger actions is a copy of the AI AW action which uses a 3 lug bolt and locks into a lock ring on the AI its held in with 2 pins. the badger is probably similar

Re: Badger Action breaching ring?

The badger ring located in the correct position by one pin. The same pin that also locates the top rail. The end of the barrel shank buts up against it at the same time the barrel shoulder buts up against the action face. This is what holds the ring in place. It can be set up so both the barrel shoulder and the end of the barrel shank make contact at the same time or you can have -.0005 clearance between the end of the barrel shank and the ring. When you screw another barrel on just make sure that the ring is seated in the right place. You will know it if it is not in the right place. The barrel won't screw on all the way. It will only seat in one position.
