I have a badger 20 moa base to mount up on my remington 700 .308cal rifle.The instructions say to coat the bottom of the base with loctite thoughts on this.Is this a kind of bedding trick or should this not be done.

Just a bit nervous about using the loctite they recommened. It would take quite a bit of heat to get it to release since they recommend permanent strength.Also worried about it throwing the base out of wack when it cures.

Just finished doing one using Red Loctite. Burnished the base with 400 grit emery. Degrease both surfaces as well as the screws and screw holes' threads. I didn't get the idea from Badger. I simply want my stuff staying put when it matters and when it doesn't. They assume you're mounting the base to stay.

the loctite is just to keep water or any other moisture from seeping between the base and action causing rust to form. loctite is very thin and won't affect hieght or fit.

Thats what i thought but was a bit uneasy using this stength. I am also a mechanic and know the frustrations of loctite use damn you gm hub bearing bolts
