I want to buy a new base for a scope I am going to purchase. I am getting a nightforce nxs 5.5-22x56. I want be sure before I plunge into this. Ive settled on badger ordnance but am unsure of which one will suit my needs. I am shooting fclass f/tr and am thinking a 20moa bas will work well. what is the difference between the 306-06A and the 306-06. any other input would be appreciated.

The A stands for Alloy. You want the Steel base. And yes, go 20 MOA. Good choice :)

And make sure if you have a Right Hand action, that you get the Right Handed base, because those are two different part numbers depending on right or left.

EDIT: make sure you get the proper size screws for your action. If you have a standard remington action that has been untouched, it should have the 6-48 screws. If you or someone has had the holes drilled and tapped to 8-40, then get the 8-40 screws.

As long as you're already going to be sending a check to Badger Ordnance, I'd use their rings. I have the Badger High (1.125") Alloy rings on all of my F-T/R rifles. These rings are used for both NF 8-32x56 and 12-42x56 scopes. Personally, I like the scope just a tick on the high side. A 56 mm scope should also easily work with 1.0" (Med-High) rings. Depending on the diameter scope you have, you may need to adjust up or down in ring height. Just be aware that the Badger Med-High (1.0") rings only come in steel, just in case making weight with your rifle is an issue.

I'd roll with badger steel rings op, just make sure u get the proper height. No need for aluminum or 6 screw fronts, but to each his own. Heck Seekins and others on here make quality rings that are G2G.

I've got a Badger base on my 300WM R700 and its solid as a rock. If I had to do it over again, I'd probably put one on my .308 R700 as well.

I'm using their rings with all of my optics and couldn't be happier.

If you put everything at correct torque values, you should be golden.
