If you are running a Badger Ordnance FTE muzzle brake I would like your feed back... Any info you may be able to pass along would be greatly appreciated... Pro's, Con's, Love it, Hate it, wish you would have tried it sooner, wish you never put it on your rifle... Accuracy issues... Anything you can tell me.. Thanks!

Re: Badger FTE questions

I run one on my 308 and love it.

Pro's easier to spot your own impacts, sometimes trace of the round. Follow up shots are much faster.

Con's balance is a little off, some think it is a ugly mother (but it works) neighbors are going to hate you. A bitch to clean.

I haven't noticed any accuracy issues. Using the same load as before I had it installed and still shoots .2's and .3's. I wish I would have done it when I had my rifle first built instead of a add-on later done the road. Would do it all over again no questions asked.

Re: Badger FTE questions

one more thing is the barrel has to be turned to fit it, guess thats really isn't a con its just perminent. There's no giong back other then cutting off and re-threading. I really like the design they work very well.

Re: Badger FTE questions

I have one on my .308, Love it. Barrel was threaded by GAP. NO change in accuracy or POI. Should have done it from the day I purchased the rifle. I have put alot of rounds through mine and it has not required cleaning yet. Little or no movement of the rifle when fired, it is very easy to watch bullet impacts now.
Is it loud yes, but I think quiet and muzzle brake or comp don't really go hand in hand, as far as I am concerned!
Take care,
Chet

Re: Badger FTE questions

Thanks for the feedback fellas... I am liking what I am hearing so far.. I chose this brake for my first custom build and I had second thoughts for a minute. I figured I still had time to make a change since the parts just arrived at my smith. From what I have found and what you guys are saying, I guess I made a good choice.. I'll let you know in 4 to 5 months..

Re: Badger FTE questions

Just curious since I'm getting a new type barrel and I already own an FTE break, perhaps one of the pro's can help me out ...

The have the type B FTE with an OD of .800". The muzzle diameter (c dimension) of the new sporter barrel I have on order is .750". I know the FTE has the clamp with hex screw, so will it fit? Or will I need to get a new brake?

Thanks for the help.
