I currently have the DD Ross M-1 USMC trigger guard on my tac gun and am wanting to switch over to the Badger M-5 so I can use detatchable mags. Does anyone know if/how much the stock inletting differs between the two trigger guards? They are both larger than the standard 700, I'm just wondering if I can swap one out for the other without having it redone and rebedded? Thanks...

You have to have a new inlet, any system that runs AICS mags is going to be wider than the standard floorplate. It shouldn't cost too much, mcmillan will do the inletting or you can send it to a smith.

That would be the best case scenario, the DD Ross bottom metal is really big, my only concern was the Badger M-5 might be smaller than the DD Ross and a smith would have to back fill it with bedding compound or something. I wish I had an M-5 on hand so I could just measure and see.

Thanks for the input...

If that happens to be the case where you do indeed need to have a smith fill the stock back in, you could just sell the stock and bottom metal together here in the for sale section, and just buy a stock specifically inletted for the M5, or maybe trade someone for the stock you want. Just a suggestion.

That is an option, it's a McMillan A-3, adjustable butt spacer system, with adjustable cheekpiece (non-sadle style). I just hope I don't have to do that. The gun shoots so friggen good I just would hate to have to get a new stock re-bed the thing, but, I'm really sick of loading through the top the action, I really want a DBM system. Thanks for the suggestion.

It says scale 1:1 at the bottom, I'm pretty sure you can just measure it and you should be good to go.

I'm sure a rifle builder would know more than me

well, I measured from that drawing, and the footprint of those two trigger guards is damn near identical. Now I'm wondering if I could just do a straight swap out without having to adjust anything?
