I was wondering how easy/difficult it is to install a badger M4 bottom metal in a Bell Carlson stock. originally a rem 700 short action BDL. I am not a gunsmith. If there are posts discussing this I am sorry I missed them.
Thank you guys.

Re: Badger M4 Bottom metal

With the money invested, consider investing another $80 or so to have it installed by a smith with a mill.

If you don't have a mill, doing a nice clean job is not easy in my opinion.

I guess the question is how good do you want it to look?

thanks Keith.

I was not sure if it dropped in or required "minor" fitting.(well minor for a good gunsmith)
I have a dremel tool but it will look like crap!

Totally agreed! I cant see ruining any stock with trying to do this task. NOT an easy job to do freehand with your dremel... Any reputable 'smith can tackle this for a reasonable price. There are many on the 'Hide that I am sure would do it for you if you send it in to them....
I like to tinker and do things on my own as well, but until I get a Mill / Lathe, I'll make trips to the Smith...

Let us know how it turns out buddy... Good Luck

Re: Badger M4 Bottom metal

Even with a Manual mill, its not the easiest thing to do. Until you've done enough of them I guess.

The companies running CNC programs are best set up to do the nicest job. Getting a manual mill to move like a CNC isn't easy, so you have to come up with tricks to accomplish the job. And take much more time.

My take anyways.

It's a hinged floor plate.
BDL

It is a valid question. The M40A1 BM is also hinged but uses a modified ADL mag box.
