Rifle Scopes badger's scope rings???

It depends on how well your base fits the top of your receiver...
If your base is bowed a little in the middle because of improper fit, then your rings will not be in line...in which case, yes lap them...
I always at least "rub" my rings with an arbor just to see if they hit even...
A properly bedded base to receiver may still not be straight...
It's just too easy to check/lap the rings, rather than wait and find an impression in the scope tube...
